Me too. I was skimming through an older post today that got brought back up to the top of the page and saw a reply from Wes and thought for a second he was back with us and on the mend. Then I saw the date :(

Hoping Wes is feeling better within a reasonable timespan and hoping he did not get paralyzed or lose vital spinal, central nervous system & brain stem functions.

I'm guessing he logged in only briefly to either do some mod work or check progress on boxes.

Wesley hope your feeling positive and know you will get through this. Life is challenging but it's like that and I know you understand. God Bless you and take it easy and do what your doctor says. Peace Out!

Thanks for all of the well wishes, guys. Needless to say, my energy level is a tiny fraction of what it usually is, and then trying to use my wife's tablet to post is another level of challenge that quickly frustrated me, so my posting has been minimal or non-existant while in the hospital, and even now I just don't have the energy to still here long.

I am exceptionally fortunate, I still have the use and feeling in my arms and legs. The break was at C7, which had it
been worse I could be a quad. I knew this was a possibility already with my spinal arthritis anyway, but this fracture brought it home to slap me in the face. I was only mowing the lawn...

Anyway, a lot of good things came together, ended up with a very highly regarded NeuroSurgeon. The surgery was over ten hours and more involved than anticipated. I'll spare a lot of the more unpleasant details, suffice to say I wouldn't wish this on anyone. However, since this is where I'm at, I'm making the most of it. I will be out of action a minimum of 6 weeks, possibly more, depending how the healing process goes. I get up and around as my energy allows, so I'm using the time to catch up on old movies and such, but sitting at the computer is a lot more challenging just now than it used to be, so I'm afraid I won't be as active for awhile yet.

Thanks again for all the well wishes and prayers, they are greatly appreciated, and I appreciate all of you guys more than you know. I will be back soon, but I will be pacing myself... ;)

Great to hear the good news Wes. I am so glad your surgery went well and yes, very fortunate for you. Having come through three orthopedic surgeries in the last few years I know the recovery time is long and the energy level is nil. Do take care of yourself and let your body heal completely - that is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family - to do what the doctor and therapist tell you and to take the time to let your body rest and heal.
Again - so glad you are on the road to recovery.

Wes, so glad to hear you're getting up and around and that the surgery went well. Catching up on movies is a great escape when you're not feeling well. Hope your energy level returns quickly--but take it slow in spite of all. I'll look forward to updates and comments when you can.

Thanks guys! Recovery is slow but steady. I'm getting around pretty good inside the house, but still concerned about tripping/falling again. Now would not be a good time for another spill. I have a 4 wheeled walker for outside of the house. I've been getting out a bit to the grocery store and such with an escort...just in case. Still have a spot on the incision the dr. is keeping an eye on, don't need infection right now either. Other than that, I am pushing myself for the Nov. 7 release date to go back to work. Right now I'm bored silly and have cabin fever...

I don't normally make it over here to the Free Parking, so I hadn't seen this announcement until just now. Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear you seem to be recovering steadily. Take care of yourself, and best wishes to your continued well being!
