Neighborhood Mustang trailered

Around 8:30 this morning, this nice-looking 2011 Mustang failed to make it totally onto the lawn trailer. The car's driver lives only about 200 feet from the accident to the west of the stop sign. The dark Ford pickup truck and trailer (from TLC Landscaping, ironically) was parked in the tree shadows and the very bright early morning sun "blided" the driver. The police officer told me that many accidents similar to this one happen a lot during this time of year due to the sun's angle with the earth. As a matter of fact, he said, one involved a woman hitting a recovery rig, with the car's two front wheels ending up on the truck's bed, two wheels on the road, and then flipping over!

If the Mustang had hit the trailer a few inches to the left, it probably would not have gotten entrapped on the trailer and would have minimized the damage that happened later getting it off, like tearing up the front end even more and busting the radiator. All the procedures for removing it from the trailer took about twnty minutes with the pickup and trailer moving back and forth and the recovery truck's lift repeatedly battering the poor Mustang in the front.

It WAS a pretty car.

Thanks for looking...

Well, at least it wasn't a Shelby, right?

ouch. I like the low-angle drivers' side shot.

I hope nobody got hurt. There is a lot of damage there, I am sure the airbag deployed too. :(

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!
Poor car. :( But yes, as stated, the most important thing is that hopefully there were no injuries.

Support your local demo derby.

Looks like the front sort bent down with the odd angle of impact.

Sad loss of machinery, but "it ain't nothin' but a thing." Things can be replaced. People can't, so I hope no one was hurt.

The air bag did deploy and the driver suffered some slight abrasions on the forearm from this only. Otherwise, he was okay physically, but torn up emotionally as could be expected.

That's good to hear. It always stinks when you get in an accident. I've been in my fair share, and it's always a bit scary.

Thanks for the nice photos and summary of the incident. It is always good to read that the driver suffered very minor injuries, but even then it must hurt to have your Mustang in such a sad state.
