Hey everyone! I am just curious if there are any other diecast gravity racers on here, particularly those who modify. I'm just seeing how many would be interested in participating in some mail-in events that a friend of mine & I might host in the near future. |

Hey Race fan, My former club used to do down hill racing at our monthly meetings. We had 4 classes, 1) redlines 2) black walls 3) other ( anything but a blackwall or redline) 4) modified ( any contraption you can think up / no weight limit / no more than 6 " long / and it must fit on the track) --- # 4 big fan fav !! we also did pink slip / single elimination / $2.00 to enter / half money to winner ( all cars) / half to club ( for supply fund) also did an In Memory of . . . our founders mother who passed , yes she was a member of the club . trophies had one of her models on top of it. we had a scale quarter mile two lane track, i think it was 25 or 28 ft long / simple rubber band held door, pull pin and there off !! We no longer race in the new club , as we no longer have the space or the interest to do it. Some one has to store the track, drag it back and forth to meetings and set it up. took about 30 minutes to set up and work the bugs out. a lot of effort to do. we always had one side faster than the other , so we color coded the lanes and had a little spinner by the start, left was blue / right was orange. whatever color came up first, that is the lane the first car started on. Oh and the staging area for all races was determined by order of signing up. it was a lot of fun, when you weren't the one having to do all of the work, and you always had dissenters in the group. so much so, we purchased an electronic finish line for $169.00. and there were still whiners in the group. We raced for bragging rights and points, most points end of year rec. a trophy for that category . Oh and first / second place winners rec a hand made ribbon for each race. i miss it, but i don't think it is something we will bring back to the present club. GOOD LUCK with your friends endeavor btm |
