The seller has another one with Camaros. And a lot of other high-end stuff. He's going to make bank this week.

Here's one to watch for diehard Mustang fans:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171501386581?_trksid=p2060778.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Playart is the only maker to cover the '69 Coupe.
I may be bumping this one up a bit...doubt I will win though.
Ah! So *you're* the one!

Yeah, well. If my suspicions are correct, that's Sid of Redlines Online. He tends to have a *lot* of high end stuff pass through his hands.

The single piece that caught my eye was the Bolido Topper Charger.

FWIW, I think the Playart Camaro is about the ugliest scale Camaro ever done, with maybe only one or two exceptions, which is why I didn't mention that sale. If he had a lot of the Barracudas, that would be another story.

Was that you doing all the bumping?
At roughly $26 per car, it ended too rich for what I could afford.

I didn't go above $125. Ended up being way more than I wanted to pay.

I am so glad I started this hobby later in life. You guys scare me. I guess I don't really know the difference between antique toys and authentic collectibles. What some people go ga-ga over wouldn't be sitting in my cabinet even if it was pristine new and packaged. I guess I am spoiled by the modern era stuff.

This isn't a slam on those that are interested. I just enjoy reading your texts. Enjoy your hobby fellas!

Thanks Jack! You did see the part about Playart being the *only* maker to cover the '69 Mustang Coupe, right? In hand, they really are not bad looking once you get past the wheels. The lines are actually pretty good...a lot better than what they did with the Camaro.

There are definitely 2 parts to my collecting: Vintage and Modern. Vintage is mostly nostalgia-fueled so quality can sometimes get a pass. I'm trying to wrap up my Vintage quest. My shortlist includes ONE of those Mustangs. As for modern, quality and realism take precedence. That's why I'm thinning out older JLs and Racing Champions from my collection and Hot Wheels have dropped almost completely off my radar. Better castings have come along to take their place.

Funny how that goes...

The pegwarmers today are the ones completists need to finish the set 10 or 20 years from now...

That would be correct ... He purchased a pink rear loader Beach Bomb for a reported world record of 72K ... What 1:1 scale car is parked in the driveway lol.

Or did you mean daily driver?

Wow, carded Husky Monkeemobile! I would think $50 would be quite fair, but 6 bids at $150, and the reserve still isn't met?

I'll pass.

I wonder if anyone is placing odds on which diecast maker will ante up to make this one once it is "officially" unveiled. So far it is the worst kept secret of all time!

I would guess Hot Wheels, they could make it as is and still fit in their usual design scheme.

Ended at $432. That's eight times retail for it.

Ummm...full retail was .69c...that's 69 cents, US, in about 1967. With inflation that would probably be close to $3.00 now, give or take.

$432.00 is *considerably* more than 8 times retail, even adjusted for inflation. :)

Or, you just take a chance and hope for the best. Even a blind pig finds a truffle now and then.
This is my policy. With a sharp eye, you can find some real gems in many places.

Take, for instance, the flea market booth full of common-but-playworn MB Hero City and HW cars, where I ended up finding the elusive Hot Wheels Sweet Rods Nissan Skyline. Or the vendor at the last toy show who I got a SECOND Sweet Rods Skyline from. Or another vendor at that show who had most of the other releases of that Skyline casting as part of a collection sell-off. None of those cost me above a dollar apiece.

(And on that note, in order to help me pay off a new laptop, those Skylines are up for auction with about two and a half days to go. The Lamley Group's FB page posted a link to my listings on Thursday if there's any interest. The auction containing the Sweet Rods releases is really getting up there...)

PS: as for Viperman's note about those releases being pegwarmers when they first came out, the exact same thing happened with HW's yellow Datsun 510. In multiple areas, pegs were full of *only* yellow 510s - and now people are all over the casting.
