I posted a pic of the Chevy Blazer Wrecker ("Depanneuse") on the random images thread, but as there are a lot of variations on this one it might be fun to share pics of the different ones all together here. Don't forget the regular pick-up version too (i.e. without the two cranes). I have these three easily available for a pic to start us off: ![]() ![]()

Wow Mikey! Never seen a fire service version before , I guess that's an Italian issue right? I don't have any of the emergency services versions yet, I think I'd seen a pic before of one that was a Japan police issue.....and now you show another design I hope to add one day. I'll try to get a couple pics of mine this afternoon and post some later. Don't forget there was also a military version using this Blazer casting with a gun in the bed, aside from the wrecker or the regular pick up versions. |

Ok, I managed to get a couple pics together. first off is a variation of the first one Mikey showed above. I'm showing both, so you can see the tampo color background difference. There's not much difference in the hood, seems to be distinct in the side tampos though. ![]() this one was a promo, available at Sunoco stations as I understand it. I think there are more Sunoco versions out there as well, but this played with one is the only one I have so far. ![]() |

Ah Doug, you're quite right - I clean forgot about the military version ![]() The Italian fire version came from a "Fire Zone" 2-pack I found in a French store back in 2003. I don't think it was specifically for the Italian market - there were an assortment of national liveries in the other 2-packs I got. The other vehicle in the pack with the Blazer was a Land Rover in British-style Fire Brigade livery.

Great set Mikey! I think I might have that Land Rover as a single, think it may have been from a visit to Canada. Yeah, I think I'd only seen one Sunoco once on ebay, years ago, but no diecast funds at the time. Mine was found at a flea market or some such place a number of years ago. I can't say that I know for sure right now W Gee, but it's funny you mentioned that you'd seen it blue on packages, because the best I recall of the one I'd seen on ebay many moons ago, was that it was a darker blue. I have a regular issue darker blue wrecker I'll try to post tomorrow evening. The curious thing is that at the time the blue one was available in the regular series (1988), they also had the pick up Blazer casting available in yellow in the regular series, so I was thinking that that may have been about the time they did the Sunoco versions, since they wouldn't have had to run special paint for them, just different tampos. Here is a couple issues of the pick up version, they are actually identical except for the window colors. ![]()

I've always thought that this model was a mid 80's C/K - Silverado....I'm I wrong? Is this some kind of conversion? |

Another early issue, I'm guessing, since it has the same tampo design as the silver one that opened this thread, which I believe was the first issue. The background colors are different in this tampo, but otherwise the same.![]() 383commando, It is actually labeled as a Blazer on packages and in catalogs. The first use of the casting was as the wrecker and was first issued in 1983, so that may be about the model year it represents. I think maybe being a Blazer without the rear cap on it is what throws it off, though I believe the Blazer was based on the pick-up, just maybe having a shorter wheelbase....I'm actually surprise Majorette never did a version with the rear cap, it would have been great to collect as well. |

Thought I'd share a couple more variations here. These two neon orange versions are different in that one is a Sonic Flashers, and the packaged one is a regular issue, you can tell the difference by the light bar, and the sonic has blacked out windows. I'd think they were from the early-mid 90's.

Good eye, I too had been curious about when they modified the casting, but I couldn't tell by catalogs, though I originally guessed it might have been late 80's to early 90s, but after reading your question last night, I thought I'd look further and check some old Majorette collectors guides I had recently dug out of a box, and I discovered that 1995 was the year they introduced the military series (Special Forces series), at least that is what that one collectors guide published that same year had noted, and the model with gun was in their list of military models available. Best I can tell, at the time they modified the casting creating the hole in the bed for the gun, they also deleted the gas cap, but who knows why.....You can see in some of the pics of older issues that the cap is on the passenger side right in front of the taillight. Another modification, though I can't figure out when, was that they smoothed out the roof, however, I'd almost swear that they offered the ribbed roof, and smooth roof versions simultaneously for awhile, like they had two separate molds working, which I understand isn't unheard of in diecast manufacturing, but then I think they may have done away with the ribbed roof versions altogether in later years, maybe that was the older mold and it had worn out. I have a couple pick-up versions in the same paint scheme, that come in both, ribbed and smooth roof. On a side note, I guessed wrong on the Sunoco issue(s) possibly being the late 80s, since if the casting wasn't modified until 1995, then the Sunoco model(s) were likely issued after that, since it has the hole in the bed. Sorry to go on so long here, it just happened to be a subject I'd been curious about too.

Hi Doug. Many thanks for your interesting observations. Here's a rear shot of my stars & stripes version clearly showing the smooth roof, gun hole and missing fuel cap. This model was only purchased exactly a year ago on a trip to France, so it's effectively "current". As you know, some of the older liveries were produced for several years, so I guess that at least one design could have straddled the crossover period between the 2 castings and can therefore be found on both castings.

Thanks Mikey! You can tell Majorette is a brand I really like. Here is that paint scheme I was referring to in an earlier post, one model smooth roof and one ribbed. The smooth roof version here happens to have wild colored wheels maybe from a time like with FiatCoupe's unusual red wheel wrecker. ![]() Call me crazy but I actually have 5 in this same paint scheme lol, the two black wheeled versions have different greens in the tampos, and both have ribbed roofs, the others not shown, have a difference in the green tampo as well, but have smooth roofs, and then there is the obvious wheel color version. ![]() Don't ask why I keep so many, the tampo color doesn't matter that much since it;s not like a favorite design, but 3 of them actually came in different 5 packs, and then I discovered the color differences later.
