I like these Carcollector The manufacturer is Pioneer. They did a few interesting castings. As well as "Pro-Engine" I've also seen them sold under names like "Teamsters" and "Mighty Metal Mate". It may be worth starting a Pioneer thread... |

Pioneer also sells them packaged as "Street Machine".....which makes for difficult internet searches for that brand name. Anyone having a line on the ProEngine/Street Machine/Pioneer police and fire sets (with Rosenbauer Panther airport fire engines and a Econic-like fire pumper) that were issued in 2013, I'd be very grateful for information on how to acquire either or both sets. To eliminate the most common Pioneer fire sets, here are a couple of photos of what I'm actually asking about: ![]()

I think I have a Pioneer Jeep somewhere, and possibly a few others. Both of those sets look great, and so does both ambulances. I've definitely got to track down at least one of those Panthers, the Scanias are just a bonus. With the spelling of "Centre," that's UK and Commonwealth English, so it is likely it definitely wasn't intended for the US market. Edited by cody6268, Nov 13 2014, 01:06 PM.

Part of the "fun" of collecting is discovering who made many of the models that are not marked on their bases and are sold in a variety of blister packs with different names on them. It is also surprising sometimes to discover what companies tend to be inter-related. Like Blair, I would not mind finding those two Pioneer/Street Machines sets he has shown.

A thread (in another forum) earlier this year pointed to photos of these Pioneer Panther and Scania models on picasa or flickr, and following the links from whichever of those sites led to an Italian collectors' blog (IIRC) and folks there were criticizing the models for being flimsy and cheap. Well, DUH! They're from Pioneer. Okay, just venting. I have quite a few Pioneer sets and singles (mostly Pro Engine or Street Machine labels, a few noname packages), and most of them bought here in the states. The vehicles in them look to be more "American" marques, so Cody's comment about the spelling "Centre" makes sense. But then, I also have several Pioneer sets and singles with "Fire Department", a decidedly American organizational title, but on decidedly European vehicle types. The red Scania pumper also uses the same title, "Fire Dept". Am I wrong? Are there "Fire Departments" in European or Asian cities? Hong Kong? If anglicized, aren't they often denoted "Fire Brigades"*? Of course, all beside the point. Still want them. Even the larger fire and police sets shown on Pioneer's web site would be a score! (The ones containing THESE vehicles, that is.) *"Brigade" hints at the military's role in fire protection organizations around the globe. Certainly the country's military has traditionally provided fire protection in many countries where local governments weren't serving that role. (And yes, some organizations and manufacturing plants in the US call their employee fire protection organizations "Fire Brigades".) Edited by b2young, Nov 15 2014, 03:38 PM.

The Ambulance shown in the second picture resides in my collection, and although beat up, I must say that it is well done. Thanks for providing the info about these particular castings! Now I want the two Pioneer sets shown! The Airport Fire truck looks to be based on a Rosenbauer Panther ARFF, and looks to be quite well done. |

It always amazes me the extent of tampo detailing some of these unmarked brands add to their models, you'd think they wouldn't bother for their typical prices. I'm pretty sure these are Pioneer as well, it does have US liveries. A friend picked it up from an Orlando area tourist attraction years ago. ![]() Offered under some brand name I'd never heard of "SEROX" ![]() Each model has a label applied for Canton Fire Dept. (Canton Ohio) I'd also seen pics of a similar set (with some of the same models) in blue with Jackson Township Police labels, also a place in Ohio.

I have that ALF ladder, but mines a Golden Wheel casting, which in turn, was a copy of the Majorette. So is this a copy of a copy? It's a real department, so I'd be tempted to take that decal off, and put it on a Matchbox Pierce Dash or another model. Anyone got a link to Pioneer's site? I was afraid that would happen....I "cleaned up" my Photobucket album last night when I found a couple of unexpected duplicates. I guess I deleted the one I used for the fire set with the Panther and Scania..... so for those who want to see it again, here:
