In a manner of speaking, yes. I remember being told they were stopped on the highways in America for safety reasons...how do you get out if you crash the front? This certainly fits the bill for "quirky." |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Awesome! Love the opening door on this model, and even at true 1/43 scale it's small enough to fit in with a 1/64 collection. |

Hongwell also made one in 1/72nd scale...talk about being a small little diecast model. And it is so small I seem to have misplaced mine at the moment so cannot offer a picture. Back in the early '60's my father had a Henkel which is similar in design to the BMW Isetta with the front opening doors. He brought it back from his tour of duty in Labrador and used it at his final base assignment - he never did drive it off base as he felt it was not a good highway car.

I cannot imagine myself getting in and out of one with ease even without being in a crash. |

How do you get out in a crash - you are the crumple zone! Nice model. Strange that BMW rarely refer to it in their references to past models! Chris |

Probably because it's not BMW's design, they were just licensed to make them for ISO. They did use BMW engines. |
