Found this lounging in a diecast baggie at the local thrift store, and couldn't resist it - it's a truck, a Jeepster, and VERY unusual. Plastic base, no make or names on it. VERY detailed diecast, I love it! Anyone have any idea who did it?

Jerry

I can't help with an ID on the maker, but it is a Jeepney, which is a popular form of public transport in the Philippines. It's not acutally a Jeep Jeepster. Jeepney's started out based on left over Willys Jeeps from WWII and were later built from the ground up with non original Jeeps. I know diecast Jeepney's are a popular tourist souvenir from the Philippines but I have no idea who actually has made them.

I did a little searching, and have run across some diecast exactly like this one, in boxes, but no maker printed on the boxes. They seem to have been sold in the Philippines, and brought back to the USA. Pretty neat little trucks! - Jerry -

Support your local demo derby.

New to me. Looks fairly well detailed for a non brand x model.

Living in a city with a large Filipino population I've come across many Jeepneys in the thrift stores over the years.

I don't know if this will help, but this is the part of the Philippines where it came from. I figured the Kalibo in the sides meant something so I looked it up.

Here's what the Ati-Atihan is on the roof. It's a celebration of the infant Jesus

It's likely that that this Jeepney was contracted to be produced by a tourism authority or something, and the manufacturer never put their name on the toy or packaging.

This is a neat little Jeepney.

And you haven't TOLD us about those Jeepney diecasts yet, RLYoung?! :( I do have another Jeepney, a tinplate item I picked up at an auction a long time ago. About 7 inches long, and gaudy. :P I happen to like them, they're different. If you are ever in another thrift store and see some more, take pictures ( or buy them and resell them to US  ).

I've never bought any because it's not something I collect but will consider picking them up for members here.
