NEW NYC TAXI

I apologize if a pic of this model has already been posted.
I was in NYC this weekend and out of the corner of my eye in a souvenir shop window I spotted a model of the "NYC TAXI OFTHE FUTURE"; the Nissan NV200. This car was supposed to be the only car available to taxi drivers in NYC but that hasn't quite happened yet although it is rolling out slowly. I have yet to see a model of the actual car done in 1/64 or for that mater any size model. Its a DARON model and its markings looks pretty spot on.
I also purchased a DARON made Ford CV NYC Taxi and Ford CV NYPD police cruiser along with the NV200.
The trio cost 15.00! I know tourist trap price and I am a NJ Local but as a diecast collector I couldn't resist.

Excellent finds! These are Realtoy castings, but "Daron" issues them in the licensed NYC and various airline and gas station liveries. The Nissan NV200 is a brand new Realtoy casting. I need to get one soon, but the ebay price is $13 just for the one van!

These are ridiculous, that's why if I ever go back to NYC, I'd almost not want any of these NYC models to come back with me. I went in 2011, and brought back a FDNY set which cost me a whopping $25 (that was the cheapest anyone had the set), for five Realtoys, which should have been no more than a buck each, and a handful of firefighters and accessories, which I could have bought for a buck at the dollar store. I got a much better looking Jada Dodge Charger in the NYPD deco for $3 at Walmart a couple years later.

These do look good, though. I'd be more than happy to pay the $5 if these were Greenlights, but not a Realtoy, which, should never be more than a couple bucks each. Still though, if anyone I know is going to NYC, I'll get them to pick these up for me, especially the Nissan NV.

Those are nice! I'd definitely grab the police car if I saw it!

Although rather expensive, the price of $5 is worth it for such an unique model. And considering the fact that Realtoys are not that prominent here in North America, the cost of buying one from an OLD plus shipping would be roughly equal to the price shown here.

Tourist traps do get you! Just recently, I bought a Foremost Terra Bus from Jasper, Alberta for $25...but the uniqueness of the model won me over.

I picked up the new Nissan at a train shop in Strasburg PA earlier this month. I just hadn't got around to taking the photos. Here it is up close.

At one time Daron seemed to be about the only one to have a license to do NYPD and FDNY models - so I was willing to pay the "premium" prices to have some of those models in my collection.
