Here are a pair of Fiat's that like the real cars were made in Italy by Polistil for their Penny series back in the '60's. It is hard to believe that this series of cars is that old when you look at the features that include some with opening doors, some with jeweled headlights and fairly realistic wheels! We had a department store in Spokane (Bon Marche) that had a pretty decent toy department and carried the Penny line of models as did a hobby store in Pasco, WA. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Me three. I like the body style on the silver better, but the blue and red is a great combo. Every time someone posts a Penny model I'm always drooling and wishing I had more. So many great vintage Italian cars in that line. |

Those are very nice! it's great that you had them since they were new and you can remember where you got them. Some of my best collection memories are when I bought my cars as a kid. |

Always a pleasure to see some Penny cars The Fiat 850 Coupe was one of the prettiest small cars of the 60s. A few of the European diecast companies produced a model of it in approx 1/64 scale. As well as the Penny, I have the Siku. ![]() Seat produced Fiat cars under licence in Spain. Guisval made a cute model of the Seat version (sorry for a poor photo - the light's terrible today) ![]() There are also versions of the Seat made by Paya and Dalia, but they are almost impossible to find. Don't forget that Playart made the 850 Coupe too. I guess that may be a bit easier for American collectors to find. Finally, here's a couple of pics of a lovely example of the Fiat that I spotted in a Belgian side street about 10 years ago. ![]()
