How About an Italian Station Wagon?; Mini Dinky Fiat 2300

I like station wagons and one of the favorites in my collection is this Fiat 2300 by Mini Dinky - it has held up very well over the years and not succumbed to the ever present issue with Mini Dinky models of crumbling (when one does, it is not a pretty sight.) This one has an opening hood with engine and an opening tailgate. It is fun to look at the detailing on '60's and '70's era diecast models from these lesser brands of the diecast world.

I like it.

Admittedly, I haven't purchased any of the Mini Dinky models ,even when I find one (there's a Mustang I'm now eyeing), due to the fear of it crumbling.

Neat wagon...the yellow seems to suit it quite well. I don't think I have any Mini Dinky cars in my collection. Is crumbling away a common problem?

Among Mini Dinks, unfortunately yes.

For the era they are well detailed, but I'm skittish too as they tend to fetch a hefty premium...one I can't justify if it's gonna crumble in time.

I like old wagons as well. Tell you how much I know about car styles, had you not noted it I would have thought it was an old Studebaker lol......kind of cool that it's a Fiat..... thanks for showing!

Very nice, I especially like how you always tease us with other cool cars in the background. Are those Penny?

It always tended to remind me of a Rambler station wagon.

Ooh, I like that one. I've been searching for a Mini Dinky Ferrari 250 LM for awhile now, hopefully I'll eventually get it just to have one example from the brand.

I have fifteen Mini-Dinky in my collection so far, collected randomly over the past 15 to 20 years. I'm glad to say that they are all holding up well. I would advise anybody considering purchasing one to look carefully at the model/photos to check it out for signs of crumbling or warped base plates, and avoid those that you aren't convinced about. If you're buying on ebay, don't be afraid to ask the seller for additional close-up images. I'm of the opinion that if you get ones that are still pretty good, you'd have to be quite unlucky for them to suddenly turn into dust in front of your eyes. After all, if they've survived 45+ years unscathed already, they must be pretty sound (I hope......)

Look at this Mercedes for example. I'm pretty confident it'll outlive me...

Happy collecting

Support your local demo derby.

Been pretty impressed with the quality and rarity of the models shown here recently in the General DC bay. This Dinky is no exception. Thanks for the pics John.

Mikey, how about a pic of all 15 of your Dinkys? I need something to drool over.
