![]() Today's car of the day is Suntory Boss Coffee's 2011 Audi A8 L W12. ![]()
![]() For more information and pictures of the real car please visit: Audi A8 ![]() ![]() This is the only Suntory Boss Coffee Promo model I have in my collection. Although Suntory Boss Coffee most likely outsourced the production of these toy car promotions, the actual maker is unknown. Over the span of several years, various model cars have been made exclusively as promotional items that come with a purchase of the coffee in Japan. When the Audi series of models came out in 2012, I was tempted enough to buy a complete set of both scales. There was a set of models advertised as 1/72 scale, and another set advertised as 1/55. Both would fit in with my current collection, however all of the 1/72 advertised cars were noticeably smaller than 1/72, and almost all of the 1/55 advertised cars were noticeably larger than 1/55. That was a huge (and expensive) disappointment. Each car varied in scale, to fit the package. This A8, being a large 1/1 car, was scaled down to fit in the package, and turned out to be somewhere around 1/55 - 1/57. It fits in well with typical Siku models, and was the only one I still have, and I am glad it was the one I could hold onto, since no other maker has made the current generation A8 in small-scale. ![]() ![]()

I have a couple of those coffee promos myself, though both of mine are Choro Qs, a Subaru Outback (well, Legacy as the Japanese and everybody else call it) and a Mitsubishi Lancer. Mine were sold originally with Wonda coffee, but I picked mine up from a US seller on Ebay. I think I'll get a few more, though as they look good. Plus there's a US seller that's got them cheaper than what I paid for mine. It looks pretty good. Edited by cody6268, Jan 5 2015, 12:18 PM.

A nice model. I have a few of the coffee promos as well. Mine were the RUF Porsche models. They came in a bit small as well. So they stay in storage. Jeff |

I was tempted by these when I would see them advertised but just never got around to ordering any. Did anybody have one come with the coffee - and if so, how was the coffee? You know, we Garage rats like our coffee!

Isn't it shocking that promotional items that are produced by "no-name" manufacturers can turn out so wonderful? As you stated, this is the only Audi A8 in small scale for the current generation, and this version looks extremely clean. The blacked out windows give it a very luxurious look. |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

Plus, they're being marketed with coffee, of all things. I don't get the connection. Edited by ivantt, Jan 7 2015, 09:36 PM.

The Suntroy Boss vending machine coffee is OK depending what intensity of coffee you expect. It is on the mlider side, for black coffee, it is too watery. Like the cheapest Starbucks coffee. But it does the job, if one needs a quick shot of coffee. As for cars, they are simply too big. Sad to say this, as i really like which models they have chosen for the set, but most are noticeably biger than 1:55. Only The Audi Quattro S1 Pikes Peak is okay scale wise. |

I thought the Pikes Peak Quattro was too large, and this A8 was the only one I found to be acceptable, looking comparable to Siku. |
