Any (Disney/Pixar) CARS collectors watching?; Question about distribution of "Planes 2" models.

I wasn't a Cars collector (still not, really, for maybe obvious reasons) until I got wind of Red and the various sets with Red and Sarge and others as the Radiator Springs FD.

Then along came "Planes 2" as some call it.....Planes: Fire and Rescue, the movie (and it's inevitable revenue stream for Disney and Pixar). (Disclaimer: I spent a wonderful career as a wildland firefighter.)

When they made such an ambitious movie with "smoke jumpers" and firefighting helicopters and SEATs (Dusty, the Single Engine Air Tanker hero of the story), they freakin' hooked me. So I've been trying to gather all the P: F&R figures/models that actually fight fire in the movie, from the 5 "smoke jumper" tractors including their squad boss "Dynamite" to Wind Lifter and Blade Ranger and Ryker and Mayday. But I have only recently been able to find Pulaski Plavsky....first in Tomica's PF&R 3-inch diecast series of all the firefighting characters (still in transit from Japan), and finally from Hong Kong in the large-scale version that matches the larger Ryker et al (which reminds me, no Ryker or Mayday so far in the Tomica series?).

My question is: was the large Pulaski Plavsky model only released in countries of the "Commonwealth"? It seems most of the ones on ebay are in Australia or Canada. I never saw it in the US, yet I've found every other model in multiple retailers here.

Not a collector of either, but I still always look through the pegs since it's the same aisle as Hot Wheels. I have never seen it in stores here. I'm guessing it hasn't been sold here, but maybe if it was then maybe it was a chase, as all the rest have been plentiful. It also could be that they are planning on releasing it in the future. I know with Cars 1, they were still finding new characters to release years later.

I have a few on my list, and own a few, mostly Happy Meal toys from the original movie. I almost picked up Mayday every time I found it. The new Italian ambulance and red wrecker from the Blowout line is high on my list, but Walmart's never stocked the line.

If I may point you to another forum, you might try asking at the Disney Pixar Cars - the Toys forum, they have numerous discussions regarding the diecast from Disney's Planes.

I can provide the URL if needed (hint, look for one with yuku in it).

Thanks, Michael. I visited the recommended site and it looks like as of November it hadn't yet been released in the US, but some US collectors expressed hope it would eventually show up as a single. All the posts about having found it were from Canada--starting in September. Couldn't discern a release order, but one list had it immediately following Ryker....which has been available locally in mass quantities since about July. (There were no posts on the topic since about mid-November.....so I guess that means nobody there (on that forum) has found it in the US yet.)

Another site I browsed said it was "released" back in May, in advance of the movie's July release. Which would put it ahead of any PF&R model in any stores around me. That's what had me wondering if maybe it was one of those "special" releases not meant for the USA. Well, that and the fact that the only people that are selling them online are in Canada, Australia, or China.
