HAPPY DAY! It didn't start out so great. The Small Flat Rate Box arrived and I could hear the cars crashing around inside. The cars had been rolled up together in one sheet of paper. No padding whatsoever! The Rolls windshield didn't make the trip at all (it was broken anyway) and the Mini Dinky Jag's front axle was off completely (I managed to fit it back on. Fortunately, the cars seem to have survived. The seller refunded my shipping with an apology and I left it at that.

I'm not trying to show-off. I love it when people share their finds. That's why my collection keeps expanding into new territories!

The Topper has a beautiful mirror purple finish. After quite a bit of work with gentle soap and water, the sticker stripes came off. You can see a very slight color difference in the finish. Got lucky.

The Nomad is toned but so evenly it looks like olive. Compared to my light green example, I think it's lime-yellow. Very clean! Can anyone explain the reasoning why the hood didn't tone dark along with the rest of the car? Is it the proximity to the baseplate?

These macro pictures aren't fair, they show tiny flaws that really aren't that noticeable. Love the jewel headlight and taillights

I'm hoping to eventually find a replacement windshield for the Rolls.

The Silhouette is actually quite nice in-hand. Just needs some fresh wheels. Anybody got some?

The Corgi Juniors Bedford Dumper is pretty much mint aside from the missing dumper. Anybody interested?

The Dinky Triumph Spitfire is missing two tires, a windshield and a driver. That gray part in the cockpit is actually a seatbelt. Anybody interested?

I'd be more than happy to take the Husky Bedford and Dinky Spitfire. What are you asking?

That's a pretty great lot. My favorite is the Jag D-Type, and of course the Siku V-Series Mercedes SL Gullwing. Siku really hit things out of the park back then, especially with the jeweled headlights. Sure, Sikus might be better today with much more detailed interiors and exteriors, as well as rubber tires, but they aren't still quite as good as the old V-Series, which just seems made to a higher standard.

You might try an ink eraser on the paint that's faded on the Topper. It might just work, I know it works well to buff out scratched paint on models.

I hate when sellers don't pack things well, but luckily, I haven't had that issue. I had a lot I bought recently that's packing was essentially the cars thrown in a Target plastic bag (like flea market sellers often do) which was then put in a Flat Rate box. None of the cars were mint, so I'm sure it would be hard to tell if any were damaged I'm considering buying a Mini-Dinky Mustang, and from what I've heard about the fragility of them, I think I'll put a note in there to the seller "Pack it well, these tend to easily break". How come these mini-Dinkys are so fragile?

Just PM'd you.

I think the metal used with the Mini Dinkys was of poor quality. There are Hot Wheels "crumblers" that do the same thing.

I'm putting up a 3 red vintage Jaguar comparison in this Bay later with some more Dinky Jag pics.

You did very well, that's a great lot. I'm not big into vintage JL Toppers (have one Ferrari) but that one is making me drool, great color on that one. The Siku SL is definitely my favorite though. Congrats!

That was a nice deal for sure, other than the weak packing.

Some Topper does appear to have a mirror finish even though its not a true "Mirror". If this Eldo were a true mirror it
would be worth several hundred dollars.

Yes.The bodies and hoods were made from different batches of diecast with sometimes different degrees of plating qualities.
That said time tells the story with uneven toning.

No surprise the Mini Dinky was damaged in transit, they require ultra safe packing.

Enjoy

Your blue Man-from-U.N.C.L.E. car is great. Does it have the missile with it still? ;) I have one of those, neat car. The jeweled car is also nice. Some nice pieces in that collection for sure.

Alas, no missiles. I've seen some for sale on ebay, but can't tell if they are repro. Not sure if it matters much to me. I have two cars. This one has slightly better paint, but the other one has a better painted figure. The machine gun is more identifiable. thanks
