Was the '64 Lincoln the same one Kennedy was assassinated in? As far as a model with historical importance, this was definitely a good choice. Possibly controversial, yes. I myself mostly collect their 1/76 emergency vehicles, and have just started, as I only own one, the Ford Consul Police. The prices are fairly reasonable, and they're diecast, but half what an HO scale model costs. Edited by cody6268, Jan 20 2015, 07:46 AM.

While I no longer collect 1/87th scale cars these days I do make exceptions to "my rules" from time to time. Last year I got the HO Oxford Edsel which is a very nice diecast model. Runs in the same price range as the 1/76th models. Oxford does a very nice job. Of this new group I know I will want to get the '57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser to park next to my Oxford Edsel.

They also have released this mysterious model of a Komatsu PC340 long reach excavator in 1:76 for Stobart Rail's Civil engineering division. This is part of the "Atlas Editions" collection no clue how to obtain it. Might be a UK only model?

John These are 1:76 scale- not( HO 1:87 th). They are slightly larger than true HO which I also no longer collect , as I agree HO are much too small for my liking. If anyone locates a distributor / dealer or UK collector source for these Oxfords, please advise! |

If memory serves, I think 1/76 scale is "OO," or in parlance "dublo." I may possibly have that confused with 1/72. Nice looking models, that Mercury is a stunner! The non-pres Conti and the Tbird would be next on my list... |

Actually, Kennedy's limo was a 1961 Continental. These are beautiful, and I would love to get them. |

At the time of the Kennedy assassination the car was wearing a 1962 front clip, but was still essentially a 1961. After the assassination SSX100 was completely remodeled and returned back to the Johnson White House in May of 1964. I believe this is when it was given a model year update since it was torn completely apart and put back together with more armor, more power and many other updates. |

These are Oxfords 1/87 models. There are new and different than their 1/76 series. Nice and different but they do seem to lack the detail the others manufacturers are putting out in this scale. I hope they can be successful with this approach, but many in this scale are very picky. Jeff |
