do we think that Ertl used an existing 73 Trans Am casting initially to quickly capitalize on the movies success ? I have yet to find Ertl s 78 & 80 turbo versions of the Bandit. I have found 3 loose Bandit Trans Am's that appear to be approx. a 73 model |

The Mustang II is a Mustang too!

Sweet additions to your collection! I have the same two pack, and can confirm the Trans Am is the 1980 Bird. Notice the wrap-around rear-window - 1974 & earlier Firebirds don't have that. Also, the older casting usually has opening doors. |

Over the years, ERTL used three different castings for their Bandit cars. I will need to do a little digging to find all three of them in my collection. |

I was thinking the same...the models are available loose mint often enough, but the carded pair is a pretty rare sight. |

Yes, that card is pretty rare. Cards that old and that large do not usually survive that long. It's really mint, see no reason at all to open it! ERTL's blisterpacks usually crumble by now, as the glues they used weren't exactly Mattel quality. |
