Got this guy the other day. Some people here know I really like collecting Playarts so picking this up was a no brainer. At first when I saw it, I actually thought it was a Playart cab hooked up to Matchbox tanker.![]() Just to double check: yup she's a Playart! ![]() And a real Matchbox Superkings Tanker: ![]() Right down to the color!

Another one of those that makes you go..."hmmmm." So did Playart lease the mold from Lesney/Universal, or did MBX lease the mold from Playart? |

My guess is they 'borrowed' the casting. For free But then again, the casting is very sharp and doesn't appear to be just a mere copy. The differences between the 2 are that the Playart has no suspension and the trailer stand is painted red vs. unpainted on the MBX. |

Very nice. Hmmm, Pretty good likeness to that Mbx.....I wouldn't have guessed Playart did that sort of thing.

Nice truck! I also am fond of Playart, in no small part because they did a 1970 AMC Javelin casting, one of the few , if not the only one, in 1/64 scale. Being as I have a '70 Javelin, it got me started on the Playart collecting path. I know playart borrowed from other manufacturers, at least from the HO model train perspective, as I also own trains by them, and some were made by Model Power, and the extremely long tanker car was definitely a Tyco clone. They had some of their own models, but weren't afraid to borrow across the aisle, either, it seems, in trains or diecast cars. I think I may have one Playart Tractor Trailer, but I'd have to look into my storage bins to find out. They are not common to find these days. Definitely I like the Texaco unit. Jerry |
