I won the Ebay auction for this truck for $16 shipped. I'd long wanted the Tekno Ford D800 truck, and when the opportunity came to buy one in acceptable shape in my budget range, and when I saw that this auction had only been bid on once for the starting bid, I sprung on it. It seems a few things are missing or damaged, as,and I might have to replace it the windshield is cracked, and the rear looks like it is sagging, so probably the plastic rear leaf spring suspension is damaged. Also, there should be a set of rails or a green plastic "tarp" on the bed, which is missing on mine. Most of those missing or broken parts seem to be available at a reasonable price. The only problem--I'm sure shipping from Denmark is very costly!

This truck was made in Denmark in the '60s or early '70s. In the '70s, Tekno moved to the Netherlands, and I think they are still making this truck today, or at least it is still in their casting bank.

These trucks, even though intended as toys, are extremely well detailed. In fact, this truck features a seperate 12v battery on the frame, an extremely well detailed chassis, tilting cab revealing a detailed engine, opening doors, functioning drive shaft, steering, realistic working leaf spring suspension as well as folding bed sides.

The seller did not showcase any of the working parts, but I'll try to take plenty of pics when the truck arrives.

Another thing I've recently learned, is that MPC marketed these trucks here in the US as "Strip N' Steer" around 1970, and were packaged in kit form unassembled. Whether mine was originally an MPC or not, I'm not sure.

The pics I've posted are the sellers.

Front. Windshield is cracked, and I believe there is some paint that shouldn't be there on the front grille and bumper.

Left Side. The 12v battery (the little gray box just above the spare tire, I think) can be seen in this pic. I believe there are some rails that are missing off of the bed. I think I see some more red paint that shouldn't be there on the windows. Any tips on how to get it off?

That's a great Model you bought for a good Price. I like those Tekno Models but they are for the most time out of my Price range.
Here a link for spare parts when the model arrives: http://www.modelcarparts.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Tekno&x=0&y=0

:toy: Tekno are very nice models. I had a couple of Tekno in my collection at one time but since I was concentrating on 1/64th/3 inch size models they were traded off/sold over the years.

It arrived today. I had to work very hard trying to clean it, as it had a number of issues. First of all, it had apparently been used in someone's sand box, as several parts were caked in it. The doors, bed sides, as well as front wheels and the steering axle were messed up by the sand. I was able to work the doors and bed sides loose. It took oil to get the steering free. The front wheels still aren't very free. The cab part was also crudely repainted. Whoever it was also painted over the "D800" decal, which is hard to find. I wish they had left it alone!

The front. The headlights are jewels. The doors open.

Here's the tilting cab.

The tilting cab reveals the fairly detailed engine. The brace is also seen, which makes this a later version, which was made from 1968-1970.

As can be seen in this image, someone got paint all over it. There's paint on this window. It is just a coincidence my own paintbrush got in the pic. I keep it in my tool coffee mug (has a miniature version of a Bucket Boss bucket organizer attached for keeping things sorted) for spreading model glue.

The bed sides fold down.

The spare tire, and battery box. There's even a miniature battery on the side of this one!

Here's the functioning steering. It doesn't work quite right, as I still have to loosen it up some.

Posted Image

The quite detailed chassis. The drive line doesn't function like I thought. It just looks that way the way it fits in. It also has a realistic leaf spring suspension. This is, perhaps, the most realistic feeling suspension I've seen on a model truck.

The back. The brake lights are detailed in yellow, and the truck has a small hitch.

Here's some comparison shots with the Matchbox Ford D-series trucks. I have all of the main ones, except for the other different flatbed King Size tractor-trailer with the Ford tractors. It has the exact same tractor unit as the one with the Dyson Low Loader, so I guess it doesn't count.

Support your local demo derby.

You might be able to fashion together a new front glass from plastic blisters or remove the paint with some sort of chemical that's plastic friendly. Thanks for the pics!
