So not to hijack the excellent Mini Dinky Prepro thread going on, I thought I'd post this obscure piece from my collection:![]() I found it at a toy show years ago and it was affordable back then. I've never seen this color anywhere until the Prepro thread came up. This does have a Hong Kong base, but so far shows no signs of fatigue. Was this a normal color in other markets? I wish I had an answer for you, I know enough about Mini Dinks to get myself in trouble. |

Ditto this. But that's a beautiful car, and prepro or just low production, it's a rare one that is worthy of appreciation. Hopefully some others have better answers. |

Interesting to say the least. Alas, Im also not an expert on the subject. The word preproduction can sometimes be overrated if you ask me. On a scale of rarity, this is only the second example I have seen thus far in this particular color, the first being the recent noted auction thread. The front wheel on your car appears to be different, is it possible to post more pictures including the base. Thanks Eric |

Here's a better shot of the profile. I hadn't noticed this before, but the rear tires are much thinner than the front. Looks like somebody substituted Aurora T-Jet tires on the rear to fit in the very narrow wheelwells. The window fit is also very awkward. The glass unit is not marked on the inside.![]() Here is a base shot. Sorry it's so dark. Rivets have a slight gleam, like you might see when glue dries. Could this be a restore/repaint coincidentally in the prepro color?

The wheel swap and glass not fitting properly is not a good sign. Also a mention of glue on the posts is another red flag. Thus far this model has been found in silver and white. Is there any signs of those colors up under the wheel wells, or under the hood and trunk lids. Im not trying to cast doubt on this car just curious. Eric |

The hood and trunk lids are bare metal underneath, but if you look inside the fender wells through the trunk you can see a bit of pink overspray. Also judging from a parts example on Ebay, it looks like my windows are in backwards. Odd, that if someone had tried to make a phony, how would they know the correct color? |

It was likely an unintentional custom. Some one likely thought, "The Thunderjet tires look great, and I love the pink color." No one likely tried to rip someone off. |

The front tires actually look too big to fit in the rear base opening without scraping. Maybe they dry-rotted and were just replaced by the common Aurora tires. This is probably just a custom, but I'm happy with just having an example of this casting that (so far) hasn't disintegrated. |

That's where I would be with this if it were mine. The car is so uncommon to begin with that any old beater that isn't turning to dust is worthwhile having around. I just wouldn't know how to value it. It is a worthy piece though, simply by what it is and what it represents. |

I think this was the next to last Mini Dinky I needed to complete my collection. The last was the MGB and my example is practically paintless. |

I have the normal silver one in-hand and neither front nor back rubber looks right. The original tires are quite thin with room to spare. I'll see if I can take some pics |

Check out where the baseplate meets the rear wheel well. It looks like maybe the body metal has contracted over time and is now shorter. See the gap at the rear lights. |

Your rivets look a lot better than mine. My tires are all very thin, but yours all look like a better fit. |
