Over the years I received a small number of cars from a collector friend in Germany.
Many weren't meant for me, but to be passed along to another friend... but I took pictures of most of them before passing them along. Some I took notes on, most I didn't... at the time I was only interested in the Toyotas that came my way - now I want to know more.

So have a look and tell me what you think they are.

Interested in the 4 loose 1/64 scale cars in the front row...

This one I have noted as being a Zylmex Datsun, but I can't find it in the Database:

I'd agree with Sini on every single ID. CF is just the term applied to those models. It's unknown what the real company name is/was. CF made the Audi 5000, Nissan Bluebird Turbo, Fiat X1/9, Porsche plus Jaguar XJ-S and Toyota Corolla Levin as shown. There was an article on Tales of Toy Cars but the domain name wasn't renewed.

Thanks guy!

Now to see if my buddy in Germany can score some of these cars all over again, for me this time....

Do you have the URL?
You can still access some old "Tales of Toy Cars" stories if you have the URL and use the Wayback Machine.
Here's an example for Yatming that I saved - https://web.archive.org/web/20120406193820/http://www.breithaupts.com/totc254.htm

Does anyone know how to get in touch with Doug? I tried on Facebook over a week ago, but no reply.
I'd like to copy the text and save it elsewhere if Doug would permit it.

Yep, like BTM said, they are collector/trade cards of a variety of Japanese makes & models of cars. If I can find it I'll take some better pictures.

As for Doug, His last known address to me is in Port Townsend WA . I do recall subsequently learning that he had sold TofTC and the remainder of his operation to Toycollector.com, who in turn sold their operation to the present owners of Hobbytalk.com . Thus, Doug may
not even own the rights to TofTC anymore?

I suspect since his wife died a few years ago, he may have developed other priorities other than diecast.

He also used the address XXX in the above town . I suspect since his wife died a few years ago, he may have developed other priorities other than diecast.
Thanks Dave.
Not sure if you want to keep Doug's physical address posted here or anywhere....

I think Doug is still fairly active with ToTC, and I'm guessing he still must have some rights to ToTC since he/it is on Facebook and there are regular updates.
I tried contacting him via the ToTC Facebook page, but haven't received a reply.

Agreed.

Or pdf files, or at least kept digital records and made available on disc or flash drive.

Do you have any of his old pages bookmarked?
I have the Yat Ming pages bookmarked and can still access them with the Way Back machine.....

I had about 15 pages saved on my evernote app from 2013. Sometime back I lost all the pictures and some of the text. I still have a few pages with the article minus pictures.

edit: Mike, a while back I was playing around to see if I could save the pages which I was able to as pdfs. I have a prefect page of the Penny Formula car article but got lazy and never did any others. On the way back archive you can change the three digit number toward the end of the link and get some of the other pages. Unfortunately many are missing the photos.

That should be the article on 'CF'. Note these have the early style wheels and that later versions would have the ubiquitous 8 dot wheels similar to those of many other 'generic' brands. Thanks Mike for the link to the way back machine!

Thanks for the tip on the numbers Greg. Might take some time to sort through all the numbers though....

As far as the pictures, I found if you scroll through some of the various 'captures' for each page, missing pictures sometimes can be found.
