Latest additions to fill holes in my back catalog

Crazy Matchbox guy
I seem to be in a bit of a buying phase at the moment. This last month I think I have filled in a lot more gaps in my collection than I have on a non-convention month for a long time. Yesterday the latest 6 additions to my collection arrived.

First off, I finally managed to track down a 1979 issue K-34 version of the MB15 Fork Lift Truck. This is the unusual version with the oversized red forks on the front. I have seen them pop up for sale or auction a number of times over so many years, and I have always missed out for one reason or another. I knew I would eventually get one, but cannot believe it took so long for me to finally add one to my growing set of Fork Lifts. Of course I now need to hunt down the variations of this particular model, as mine has the column on the casting where the plastic steering wheel used to be, before they modified it to delete that section. It does also have a black base (can be found unpainted too) but I am not going to worry about that yet.

Next up, I got the 1981 issue Chevy Van in green with the brown stripe. I knew that this model could be found with either a lemon or brown stripe on the side, but my antiquated filing system only had me listing down my one version as green with side stripe. That doesn't really help. I kept meaning for years to check which one it was and get the other, but I never got round to it. Well I have finally have, and so I have got the other one. Now I need to keep an eye on wheel variations, as the crown and dot-dash wheels can be found in varying positions. This is the most common (by a long way). Finding a crown/crown or dot-dash/dot-dash variation could be time consuming as they are not easy to find. Dot-dash front and crown rear is supposedly really tough. Is it out there for me to find? Or any of them? Well time will tell.

Next up the 1981 issue Datsun 260Z 2+2. Amazingly, I have only just discovered I missed the light yellow interior variation. Doh! I have a number of red interior variations, but not a single one like this. That was quickly sorted.

Model number 4 out of 6 is the Bulgarian Vauxhall Guildsman. I wasn't originally going to get a red one, as most Lesney versions were red (apart from the pinks, which is the only other Lesney colour). So I had been specifically going for non-red Bulgarians. But for some reason, this one just spoke to me. So I got it.

This is a rather unusual one. This is the very last run of the Bedford Car Transporter before it was replaced by the Lamborghini Countach LP500S in 1985. In 1984 it was still being produced in England, but before the Countach was launched, they did a final run in Macau and it was shipped to stores in Europe in 1985. The model had been replaced in 1981 in US stores, so was only continuing on as an ROW model for its last few years. It is not exactly an easy version to find, but really stands out with the pearly silver base.

Finally, just because you know what I am like, I picked up my first shade variation on the AMX Javelin for many years. Being a huge fan of this model, I have amassed quite a collection of green versions of this model. Many shades of green, and all manner of interiors are in my collection, but I have only recently decided to incorporate wheel variations in my collection. Doing some checks I noticed that I only had 1 lime original with 5-spoke square wheels. It was the more common light lime shade.

My new addition is on the right here.
So I went and got this darker lime variation to join it. It must be at least 10 years since I added a model to my AMX collection. As one of my favourite castings, I am really chuffed to finally start adding to it again. I will be on the look out for more now.

Congrats David! I particularly like the fork lift and the variation(s) from the King Size range are ones I hope to add one day as well.

I didn't realize they were producing any miniatures in England that long after Lesney's demise, the Macau issue is a cool variation to find.
