Super Color Changers shade hunting

Well this is something I have actually decided to get into lately. Due to the fact that changes in temperature can show a difference in an SCC model, I didn't actually pursue shade variations. I know, me, a huge shade collector not looking for shades. But recently, while sorting out my models and photographing things I started to realize that I could still go for shades on them. So I have recently started picking up a few different ones. This last year have seen me start to get a second version of a few models, but today my first model becomes a trio of Super Color Changers.

This is my latest addition. It is the Buick Le Sabre in dark brown. This is darker than any picture I have seen of Buicks.

It looks really good next to my pea green (my original one) and orangey red that I picked up recently. Considering these were supposed to be the same model, these are hugely different versions. I can't believe it has taken me so long to start pursuing these.

Those are big color differences, I'd probably go for some even closer shade differences on SCC models I liked best, like the LTD Police, (although I'd never seen another than the one I have), I might have even picked up a shade difference on the Mr Fixer Cherokee at one time, though I can't remember for sure, it may have been a regular issue.

The LTD came in both light and dark colors.

:toy: My son had some of these that he really enjoyed playing with but it was a series I really never added to my collection. I suspect there are still some of his done in his old room - may have to do some checking one of these days. :)

I recently found the T-Bird Turbo Coupe from this set but I can't get it to change colors. Either that or it's subtle to the point of indistinguishable. Can the effect wear out? I ran hot water over the hood and cold water over the roof and trunk in this photo. I also have the Le Sabre and it changes just fine.

Yes, the effect does wear out. Sometimes fairly soon if I recall from some of the ones my son had. He was rather disappointed in how quick the feature stopped working on a number of the ones he had.

Yes it can wear out. Especially if the model is stored in the warm color. I don't know why but that was the instruction on one of the packs I had. I am not sure if it was a HW or MB pack at the time.
