Saw these at Toys R Us this morning:![]() ![]() Also, up the road at Kohl's: ![]() This seems to be the first appearance of the re-tooled Swamp Raider (sans canopy on the bed) ![]() and a slightly different angle: ![]() The "diorama playsets" are $12.99 as shown; didn't notice any indication they might be TRU exclusives. The new Battle Mission 5-pack includes the standard Hummer but without a gun mounted on top. The Jeep looks nice, too. Mission Chopper, meh. MXT a little overdone, tampo-wise. Don't know which, if any, are "exclusive" decorations. Can't remember if the Ambassador said the Swamp Raider will be issued as a single, too, but I expect so. I'll be looking for it. Oh, I didn't bring any of them home. The 5-pack will almost certainly show up in stores for a much lower price; Kohl's usual markup wasn't improved much by the "BOGOHO" deal. |

I normally don't buy playsets anymore. Last one I bought was one of the fire station sets that included the Dallas Fort Worth Hazard Squad. I only buy a playset if it's cost is equal to or less than the secondary model contained in it, and people wanted a stupid $10 for the Hazard Squad, I bought the set. Yikes?! $9 for that 5-pack? That's even more than what Advance Auto wants for the HW packs! At least Matchbox is getting closer to a WWII accurate Jeep. I think this is the closest they've gotten to one. Only thing it needs is a matte finish. |

Thanks for the update. These are all pretty new. That 5-pack has been shared very recently in some places, but the playsets look totally new to me. No exclusives, unfortunately but fortunately for collectors who go after all models (David Tilley). Those playsets at Toys R Us are pretty expensive though, $13 for $2 worth of cars and a hunk of plastic with stickers? Yikes! And do not get me started on Kohl's pricing. I am glad you left the 5-pack behind. You are better off waiting a bit and getting it at regular cost. |

You have to catch Kohl's when they have a good sale, the it brings the price down to "almost" like other stores. I get lucky because in my area we get these $10 coupons in the mail, not for any reason like I'm a good customer or anything, they just show up in the mailbox , but I only shop there when I get the coupon, then I only buy just enough Mbx to use the $10 ....With the sales I sometimes can get a 5pk & a Sky Buster, which I don't really like the new SBs but for free, or otherwise a Mission Force set if they have them, but either usually comes to costing me just a few pennies with the coupon.I was at a CVS the other day in a kind of ritzy neighborhood, 5pks were $9.59, and a single was $1.59, it would be cheaper for the moms there to buy 5 singles for junior, but of course they only had one on the peg. I like the military 5pk, and there are actually 4 licensed models in it, that's always nice these days. Edited by Douglas, Feb 22 2015, 06:36 PM.

Doug, is the Swamp Raider a licensed model? I thought it was generic.... surely the Mission Chopper isn't licensed? I see Oshkosh, Jeep, and GM. Or is it because the Swamp Raider appears to be based on a Land Rover? (Not critiquing...I just don't know.) |

You're right Blair, my mistake. It is funny that I was about to write 3 at first, and then while writing I counted the Swamp Raider picturing it as the MXT by mistake....Mission Chopper is not as far as I know, but it could be based on something real, I don't know, but has a realistic look to me. |

I seen the diorama's this week at Walmart as well. I already bought them from Toys R Us to do a video review, hopefully this week. |

I think the Mission Chopper is an amalgamation of different attack helicopters. I myself have always said "Apache" when I came across one, but it also seems to have traits of a German attack helicopter by Siku (I remember reading what it was, just don't remember what it was. I consider the Swamp Raider a tribute to just about every severe duty SUV ever made, like the Jeep, Land Rover, and Toyota Land Cruiser. |

The Mission Chopper I was told was originally made to be a toy of the Helicopter from the movie "Blue Thunder". I am not sure if it was originally released as a movie toy, or if the deal fell through. Watch the movie, and look at the mission chopper, they are really quite close so it makes since to me. |
