![]() Today's truck of the day is Kyosho's 2002 Iveco Stralis Ferrari Transporter ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() For more information and pictures on the real truck, please visit: Iveco Stralis ![]() ![]() I go back and forth on picking a favorite model in my collection, but this one is up there. It is certainly the centerpiece of my Ferrari collection. Before the Kyosho Minicar series, they issued several models as a promotion with DyDo Coffee in Japan. There were two series of Ferrari road cars and a series of Ferrari F1 cars that you could get a model car from with the purchase of a coffee drink. With each series there was also a promotional chase piece. For the road car series, one of the promotional chases was a diorama of an Italian cafe street scene and the other was a display case that looked like a Ferrari dealership. With the Formula 1 series it was this transporter. I'm unclear as to how the promotion worked, often times promotions such as this in Japan were done by lottery but it more than likely was a mail in after proof of purchase. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() This transporter is modeled after the one used for the inaugural race of the 2002 Formula 1 season. It is true 1/64 and features a working loading ramp that you can raise up to load cars into, and the jack stands on the trailer also raise up and down. Great play value for a model that was directed at adults, proving that we big kids like to play with our toys too. ![]() ![]() Edited by 250 TR, Feb 23 2015, 02:08 AM.

That is simply too cool, and probably has my vote for the week! The ramp is a really nice touch, no doubt. |

It will have some tough competition this week. I'm not going to lie, I hope it wins, but I'm not going to be surprised in the least if one or two others get more interest as I wanted to make it tough this week. Edited by 250 TR, Feb 22 2015, 01:11 AM.

Failing to find any fault. Multiple moving parts plus spot on tampo work makes this a standout of recent featured COTD entries. |

Of course we big kids like to play with our toys, too! It is a very nice looking transporter and a neat piece for one to have in their racing collection. Years ago I had some of the transporters that Polistil made for their RJ series of formula one race cars - not nearly as nice as this one but still had good play value and design for its day.

That's a really fascinating piece; all of the moving parts, the quality of prints that Zach mentioned, and the cab is very well done, too. This will have my vote. I sure do love Euro COEs. |

Careless typo in the original post. I typed it as a 1992, when it is actually a 2002, just in case anyone noticed before I fixed it. |
