Up for your dissection is a comparison between the Ferrari LaFerrari by Bburago, Kyosho and Hot Wheels. First, the pictures:

By now, most of you have seen the Hot Wheels and likely been able to add it to your collections if you wanted it, so it's the basis for which to compare. I like it. It's not perfect, it has some of the typical Hot Wheels exaggeration, but I think it's still pretty darn well done for what it is. But how does it compare? Well, not so favorably, but that should be expected with the Hot Wheels vs. Kyosho.

The Kyosho is pretty close to perfect. If you were to really nitpick, you can find flaws, but it's by far the best of the three.

The Bburago is the new comer, and the one that will bring the most discussion. There were rumors that when Maisto/ Bburago took over the Ferrari license that they bought the molds from Kyosho. Time will tell if that's the case with some other models, but the LaFerrari is clearly it's own casting. Let's get the bad out of the way first. It's way over scale and no where near true 1/64. Given Maisto's track record with making cars that are too big, it could have been a lot worse though. With that out of the way, let's get to the good. Everything about the casting itself is very well done. It is much more accurate than the Hot Wheels, details are pretty impressive, it has a full interior and engine that are both pretty well done. When this eventually makes it's way to the US as a Maisto, it will likely be in the $2-$3 price range, and I think that's a pretty good value. While it's not to scale, it should still fit nicely enough with the general 3" scale.

Now it's your turn. Any thoughts or comments, pros and cons, etc. are welcome.

The Bburago is nearly ruined in my mind by the wheel offset- they look to be too sunk, a problem that plagues several Maisto castings. But it's not quite as severe on this one. I also don't think the wheels themselves are doing the casting too many favors, in spite of the fact that they are fairly accurate. But otherwise it's not half bad aside from the size. Perhaps a $2-3 Maisto will get some wider premium wheels and we'll end up with a very nice piece.

Also, the attempt at mirrors is kinda funny

Yeah, I have to go with the Kyosho on this one. Of course, the Bburago is very nice for what it is and I can't wait to get my hands on one, assuming the stores around here decide to stock them.

You just can't compete with a Kyosho, it seems! From the pictures, it looks spot on in almost every way.

The HW model is decent for a $1 car, and the Bburago loks nice, given its price range.

Thanks for posting the comparison, Ben!

Quite honestly, all three are equal. The Hot Wheels is the best in the $1 range, the Bburago in the $3 range, and the Kyosho at around $10. However, the Kyosho is always the best, as it seems they have the most detail of any 1/64 manufacturer.

With some detail I think the HW would look far better than the Bburago.
I received mine on Saturday. As 69stang mentioned it looks puffy

I agree with you. I think the HWs version does look better and with alittle time and different wheels it would out shine the Bburago model easily.

The Bburago has better details and paint than the HW but as pointed out above, wheels can make or break a model, and in this case, it's completely borked. Don't know what the issues is but probably because they didn't want to make new axles. Also not fond of the 1/60'ish scale. For $1, I'd buy the HW. For $3, I'd pass on the Bburago.

If you're not picky on wheel color, Kyosho just released Ferrari Series 12, and it has a red LaFerrari with black wheels. They are usually cheapest when they are brand new. But you can't go wrong with any version they did, which is now up to 11 different variations. The Bburago one in the picture is the Toy Fair version. Maisto has released a few different versions of it now in their premium line too.
