Ertl - NASA

Just thought I'd show my Ertl NASA models, I have many space related models, but had these 3 Ertl's handy to show.

I picked up these two 3" models, truck and van, probably 10 or more years ago, I believe at train shows, but can't remember for sure, they've mostly been in a box for a long time because I never did set a proper NASA display that I've always wanted to do....some day.

They might be mid 80's issues, I'm not even sure about that either, nor do I know if they were Space Center gift shop models, or available in regular stores, or both....So any info folks can share is appreciated. Thanks.

In all my years of collecting I've only seen the pick up twice, and the van only this once out in the wild,.

The metal base on this van is discolored somewhat, but I think the pics make it look worse than it does in hand.

This is a very small 3" space shuttle, I picked up at the Space Center in the mid 90's, it might have been before I even started collecting, just to have a souvenir from one of my visits there.

I really like the pickup and van duo. I *might* have a copy of the van, but I am pretty sure this is the first time I've seen the pickup. I'll have to take a look at my Ertls and see if I do have that van...

Wow! $1.89 for the van? That was a huge amount of money retail for that back then.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to add that cardback list to the database for reference.

My memory has failed me again!

Turns out, I have both the van and the pickup! Pretty confident both came from pjedsel.

They say the memory is the second thing to go.

I forget what the first thing is...

Thanks Guys!

Glad you found them Dean. Maybe if John stops in he will be able to help me out and share if he picked them up in stores, or maybe secondhand.

Wes, my pleasure with the card back, that's why I like sharing them in case there is info folks are interested in, I only did the one card back since they were identical lists. The high price on there is what had me wondering about it possibly being a Space Center gift shop item, but then I imagine some items available there were also in stores, since I didn't look at toy cars much then I wonder if Ertl's were usually more expensive everywhere than other toy cars back then anyways.
