I had one and got a lot of play out of it. I think this one broke. If I recall, it was purchased at Big Lots when I was three or four. I had a whole Maisto On Track train set once, which included a modern BNSF locomotive, and a big selection of cars. Only car that survived intact was the Union Pacific caboose, which I gave to a friend of mine four or five years ago. If these were just a little cheaper on Ebay, I'd get a whole new On Track set again. They cost just the same each as used Tyco HO rolling stock, which in my case the $5 a piece would be better spent on the Tyco rolling stock, as I'm trying to get an HO layout started. What scale are these, N or TT gauge? Edited by cody6268, Mar 4 2015, 08:39 AM.

AFAIK, they are about HO scale. The little track segment they come on looks about HO to me, but I don't have anything around train-wise to compare with. Somewhere I think I have a box car with graffiti paint on it as well, another very short lived line. |

According to other sources, the Maisto trains were 1/131 scale. They were smaller than HO scale but larger than N scale. |

I have a bunch of these. They came out around 2004? maybe earlier. They are pretty close to 1/100, or TT gauge ( a 1950's era scale, the Russians and Eastern Europeans still run that gauge too ). Wal-mart carried the singles, and I bought them hoping to convert them to TT track, if I ever found working trucks for them. I did finally find some trucks from Japan, and bought a few TT trucks, they fit fine. I WISH On Track / Maisto had made the plastic track TT size, it's just a hair narrower than TT, it would have been PERFECT, since they were between N and HO scales anyway, why not make it useable? Oh well. The 2nd generation came out, they had a graffiti version cars, I bought a few of those, too. I don't know if it caught on, Wal-mart never sold the On Track sets ( which had the curved track ), and there was only one section of straight per package, so what could you do with them without any curves? It's like selling a car with no wheels. They made some nice stuff, I have maybe 50 total pieces, I did an inventory last year, to see what I had. Lets see, can I find my pictures? There you go! That's the most of this series I've seen gathered in one place at one time. |

But...would they fit on any model railroad track (N, HO, etc.)? |

Gremlin was talking earlier about a TT scale. Not a scale I'd heard of, but I haven't dabbled in trains to any extent, and really not in over 30 years. So I'm taking him at his word it is an obscure scale. Maisto may have been better off to make them closer to HO (compatible), but I don't know what mfr issues that may have raised. Clearly the line didn't last long at all to begin with, so these are all somewhat hard to find. |

No, like I said, it's extremely close to TT ( 12mm between rails), but it's more like 11mm. It's just such a small bit off, they could have done it in 12MM and then there might have been more done with it. HO is 16mm between rails, and N is 9mm. You can still find ON Track on Ebay, but they seem to want way more than it sold for originally. I found the two sets I have somewhere other than Wal-mart, I forget where, I think some discount toy store in my travels. So I do have curved track, if I want to open them. No desire to, I will convert some cars to actual TT trucks and spacing, and see if I can make them work eventually. The toughest part will be getting the engine powered, as most TT engines I've found are steam, not diesel. I would have to scratch-build any engine chassis most likely. Now, they DO make a special HO called HOM, which uses 12mm track, so I could possibly get a drivetrain, but most likely it will be steam, too, not diesel. I haven't really looked, narrow gauge is not an easy niche to get into, and usually expensive. So it's a long-term project for me. Oh, here's a couple more pics I found. Jerry ![]()

Were there any more steam locomotives available aside from the 0-6-0? |

Far as I know of, no. The green and black 0-6-0's were all I ever saw, with different road names on them, though. But that was the extent of steam that I ran across. Jerry |

I remember those in stores. Since I wasn't really into trains, I didn't get any, but I remember looking close at them, I thought they were kind of neat anyway. |

Even though I do not collect trains, I have these in my collection. They are quite nice, with a good amount of detail.![]() ![]()
