I guess I'd say it's good news when Walmart finally decides to restock empty Matchbox pegs (last restock locally was in January...) But with distribution dependent on complete unknowables, the bad news is that the two stores I checked yesterday and today pegged 2015 Batch B or A (per Tilley's list), whichever one of those batches contained 3 CHP Mustangs as the filler/remainder leftover from the first batch with the Mustang. Why "bad news", you ask? Of course, because Fred Meyer (Krogers) pegged those in January. Been there, done that. And this also means there are no chains that haven't pegged one of those two batches already this year (currently Target and Shopko have the same batch)....which also means there's very little chance we'll see the purple Dodge A100 pickup in stores until it's out in a 9- or 20-pack. It either was NOT in 2014's last two batches (as it was purported to be), or it was the single most popular model in that/those 2014 batches. (Hence, was not present where I got everything else I wanted out of those batches....) The other model at the end of 2014 that wasn't available on pegs when I filled up with the others was the INC road grader.....but at least I can find the construction 5-pack that contains it. Haven't bought it yet since Fred Meyer's the only place carrying it....for $5.49. Hoping Shopko or WM will soon get the 5-packs updated since they're only $4.99 at those stores. |

Blair, This really depend on the how you view the glass, here in CT none of the stores I have visited have restocked MBX since the holidays, so this gives me hope of an end to the over two month dry spell. Most stores have only had 2-6 peg warmers filling the racks. |

Brian, you're right. This glass is half full.....at least WM finally restocked here. Was a long wait. Since nobody's reporting any truly NEW Matchbox in stores yet, we'll see if when that happens these same WMs do what they occasionally do....stock a new batch within a week or two of pegging older stock. |

I found two Mack model B fire engines this weekend at Dollar Tree, freshly stocked again, since before Christmas, of whatever batch that was. |

One of the WMs near me was that way, a smaller store, they only carried 5 packs and Sky Busters, completely eliminating the pegs for single Mbx, seems like it's was well over a year that way, but then when the other WMs in the area finally restocked with the batch Blair was referring to, this small WM also created some Mbx peg space and added this batch in as well. And like Blair, my area seemed to have missed out on the purple Dodge A100, at least at the big box stores I visit. |

Got a small re-stock sometime over the weekend at our local Walmart (pegs had been empty as of Friday around midnight), but when I re-checked Sunday morning, there were numerous unlicensed things that didn't interest me at all, but EVERY one of the licensed castings that may have been included, had already been picked clean. |

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

Don't forget how the dock strike on the west coast is affecting deliveries. While some cases may got through, others may just be entering the ports for distribution. |

I've seen the purple Dodge A 100 at Dollar General and at another little store called the Thrifty Nickel.

Just went to Walmart today. It was the same mix as two weeks ago, except they restocked 9-packs. And by that, I mean the same ones that have been here since fall. |

That was the batch that came out last July.....I remember the hunt on the way home from ABQ. The first inkling the batch had hit stores in Utah was when I found the BMW police car at a Target in Spanish Fork. Soon found Mack Bs and Lifeguards in several other Targets on the I-15 corridor north. |

up here ,Walmart & TRU have had no new stock since Christmas.... Dollarama has been getting new restocks but they are older late 2014 cases over and over, the 3 stores near me will peg a couple cases of MB sell through and restock ....the same cases , I've had so many chances to buy another Boone County Charger....Walmart has been doing the same thing with HW since last fall but not much this year ? if this is a case of retailers not getting the stock they have ordered ,its been ? 6 months since I have seen anything new , how long will the ripple last if all the stock comes in at once followed by the current stock shipments ? that's a lot of back stock to sell to get caught up to order new ?

I don't know much about retail logistics, but I suspect the expeditious thing when ordering from manufacturers is to order a significant supply of whatever is available at the time of order. Then it arrives and gets warehoused to provide a steady stream of product to regional stores on a per-order basis (from those stores to their distribution center). That would at least partly explain the observation that months after Mattel has presumably superseded what you're finding in your local stores, when your stores restock it's the same stuff you saw there months before. It would also explain my observation that some chains truly NEVER stock certain batches...they're entirely missed or skipped simply because the stores' distributors have tons of product in stock at warehouses, etc. No need to buy more from the manufacturer. In other words, ebay or Amazon or forum trades are a good thing, even if it costs more. I see that JeepXJLover has seen the purple Dodge A100 at DG stores (Thrifty Nickel in my experience is one of those classified ad newspapers you get for free in those little dispensers on sidewalks around town....). Sadly, no Dollar General stores in this region. Dollar Tree (as noted above and relevant to this comment) is months behind...freshly restocked with not-so-fresh product. Family Dollar is more hit-and-miss with Matchbox around here than anyone else. |

To me, DT stocking the July or so batch with the Mack B isn't exactly a bad thing at all. I've found most of my list for 2014, except for the sole exception of the Mack. What's odd is, most of those I found just as soon as Monday. Other than Skybusters at one Family Dollar this past Christmas season, and one case of Matchbox Christmas Season 2013 at another location, Family Dollar has never carried Matchbox in my area at all. In my recent travels to Iowa I found Matchbox on the pegs in most stores I stopped at - even the TRU in Cedar Rapids. Not the most current releases but still models from 2015 and good to see pegs actually full of a variety of Matchbox models. Sadly for me, since I basically only collect the emergency vehicles these days, I didn't find any that I needed. Had really hoped I would come across the CHP Mustang.
