Kenner Fast 111's

Just sorted out the Kenner Fast 111's vans that I have. At least what I could find.
Took some quick pics, that I was going to post in the Database section.
But, alas, no database.
So here they are.

Went through a bunch of them. The only variation in them that I spotted was the license plate on the rear bumper.
I ended up with 2 plates for the blue one.

And 5 plates for the red one.

I also have a pre-production one.

No text on the pre-pro base.
pre-pro left, regular base right

Thanks for looking,
Brian

I like the emergency unit ok, of course they have that weird bumper though, but that's Fast111's trademark I guess. :D

Interesting I didn't even know they came with different rear plates.

Interesting I didn't even know they came with different rear plates.
From what I've read, plates were available for all 50 states, all of the Provinces of Canada, and a half dozen or so sub-divisions of Great Britain.

I can't see the pics now, started to write a bit this morning and got called away mid thought, I seem to remember this is the Blue Monday van...which was also available as an EMT ambulance. Kenner FastOnes were rather short lived, so their list is fairly concise...as I recall Hong Kong and Malaysia offerings with chrome and black bases. Typically HK were chrome, and Malaysia were black. I'm trying to see if there were exceptions but I haven't seen any yet. I don't recall seeing this van (either version) with a black base.

Aside, one of the more prolific castings was the Mustang. Besides the usual two paints and HK/Mal chrome/black varis, there are two or three special set cars. Add in Universal buying the mold and modifying the base and shifting it into the Matchbox line where it continued through about a half dozen or so iterations before the last release in pink in a 5 pack at the end of the TYCO era. It hasn't surfaced since Matty took over.

funny , I've never found a Fast 111s car yet but I have found a minty carry case .... from my research when you multiply the number of castings by paint variations by licence plates..... there's a lot of variations out there

I don't really count the plates as varis, they often came on a sticker sheet so they could be applied by the owner. I would probably make an exception for a Canadian or English plate, just because they are so hard to find here.

I would be interested to know more about the pre-pro. What can you tell us about that one?

Very little info on the pre-pro. I snagged it on ebay, on a odd auction listing, around '99-'00 timeframe.
Was cool that is was unpainted, and no chrome plating on the top side, but when I turned it over, and no base lettering, that was the best yet. It just finally resurfaced, and got me to go through the regular issues that I could find.

Might not have come with all of them, but I know I've seen pics of sticker sheets with all 50 states.

Based on the following link, I do believe the sticker sheet only came with the race case. All blisterpack singles had whatever plate was issued from the factory. Their whole selling gimmick to get you to buy them was the fact they had their own plates for each state.

Kenner Fast 111's - 'One of a Kind license Plates'

I have a few Kenners myself, the hard thing is finding them with the plates still intact!

I have two, a dune buggy and a Firebird. I know the dune buggy has Maryland plates, but I forgot what the Firebird has. Both are in storage, and I've forgot where I put them.

The toughest for me to score so far is the 55 Chevy...by a country mile! Still don't have either paint. Watching for the set car Mustang as well.

Could be on the sticker sheet, I'm no expert. Just one of my side collections that I do passively as they come around. I misspoke earlier...not Malaysia, the later issues were made in Macao. :duh: Sheesh...why didn't I remember that?

Besides the Mustang, the Bronco and Sandrail got rolled into the Matchbox line as well, the Bronco also had a long life as a Mbx, but the Sandrail tooling broke fairly early in production, I think it only got one run as a Mbx. The Kammback Camaro shows the black base. Kenner had some pretty wild fantasy models, the Street Boss had a friend...Super Coupe. The one I still haven't warmed to is the Shark. Some are just bizarre, some are quite fun in that Cosmic Blues / Muscle Machines sort of way, few are even close to stock but there are semi-stock issues like a BMW formula 3 racer and the Camaro Kammback which was based on a concept car.

It seems that a large portion of my small collection that doesn't fit the rule.

Sporty Shifter - orange - HK - black
Master Blaster - red - HK - black
Rallye Champ - white - HK - black
Shooting Star - green - HK - black
Saturn Seeker - maroon - HK - black
Saturn Seeker - white - HK - black
Twin Tank Turbo - maroon - Mac - chrome
Evil Eye - light blue - Mac - chrome
Jet Vet - tan - Mac - chtome (I also have a HK chrome one)
TR Terriffic - red - HK - black

I'd wonder if it was a regional distribution thing, but I only owned one Fast 111 car as a kid and most of mine have come from ebay lots, not flea markets or other local places.

You're right. I'm just not a brand loyalist when it comes to SUVs...I get the two confused a lot.

It wouldn't hurt to ask for a Database, but Kenner FastOnes is one we decided not to include because there are a couple of extensive and thorough listings already on the web.

Not counting Doug Breithaupt's exellent write ups, here are two listed in the reference post at the Database:

http://whitemetal.com/ppro/kenner/fast111s/index.htm

Here's a primer on Kenners, just the basics

http://kennerfast111s.com/

Here's a more extensive list for Kenners

posted here along with many other online reference resources:
http://swiftysgarage.net/topic/6815179/1/#new

OK, after double checking it appears the more extensive Kenner reference may no longer be available...which would make a good case for opening our own.
