My advice for Matchbox on the casting--lose the roof rack. It makes it too tall to fit in my Jammers. Especially now, since the gear in it is part of the windows. Also, the hitch is useless, so either make it longer, or remove it. Do they always have to have side tampos on it? Several decos of this model haven't been too great. Instead, why can't the use the tampo strikes allowed for the grille, headlights, and taillights? Anyway, though this is a great Defender casting in this small scale and price range. The best detailed are Oxford's (about $7) and Busch's (all plastic and $30), but the Matchbox still stands out at a dollar. I will eventually be picking one of these up. The Defender is fun to collect, I think I may have even got every version so far (or most, I'm not sure), My fondness for the casting is that it reminds me so much of the old Mbx Safari Land Rover issued back in the 60's....that's one of many favorites from the Lesney era. I got the version like shown here in the "Jungle Recon" 5 pack, though I don't know if it was released in other ways too, sets etc, and I don't know if it was offered as a single either, but it could have been, and possibly in one of the batches I missed in my area. |
