Met him! One year at a auto swap meet I turned the corner by the auction barn and there he was! Just about dropped everything I had! Big fan of the movie of course and the coupe is one of my favorite cars. He called the car "The Turtle" and said it was hard to steer as the king pins were seizing. I had to run home and get my Ertl and stop for a paint pen too then go back. Cindy Crawford was there too. The following year, Candy Clark (Debbie)was supposed to be there but I never found her, the older I get the more I like her character. Gotta watch the old movie Citizen's Band again, Lematt was good in that one too, he lived with an old man called Pappa Thermodyne, always loved that moniker. He was very nice and not at all like he was in the Burning Bed! Ha ha. ![]() ![]()

Dude that's a cool story man, on a cool guy. Your lucky to get his autograph. Were you in Florida when you got it or was you in California? Anyway that movie was the best for all the old cars and the music a course. I think it set the course for future movies being that it had so many songs from so many different artists and groups. I still enjoy it and sure do appreciate the photos and seeing the autographs. Wish I could have met him too. He was really cool in the movie. They always said James Dean was cool but this Guy played the character perfectly. I do remember seeing him in a Howard Hughes plot movie or sorts. Again thanks for the story it was entertaining and I'm glad you shared it with us.

Thanks Dan'l, it was in Zephyrhills Florida. There was a site where his upcoming appearances were listed, I'll have to find that again and share. |
