Chevrolet Task Force is the successor to the venerable Advance Design trucks, the Task Force Series ran from late 1955 (second series) through 1959. At GMC locations, it was called the Blue Chip Series.

The 1955 second series offered standard options and add-ons such as 12-volt electrical systems, the first V8 (the 265 cubic inch), and fleet-side 6-foot, 7-foot, and 8-foot-length beds.

1955 Second Series - First year for new body style. New "wrap-around" windshield - a truck industry first - and optional wrap-around rear window on Deluxe cabs. Power steering and power brakes are now available for the first time on GM trucks. Electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts. Only year for 7 foot bed length. Fenders have single headlights and one-piece emblem is mounted below horizontal line on fender. Cameo Carrier series introduced.

1957 - Only year for more open grille. Hood is flatter with two spears on top, similar to the 1957 Bel Air. Fender emblems are still above fender line, but are now oval-shaped, as opposed to previous versions in script.

A fine example of what Matchbox can do, when they put their minds to it! This is a suitable plaything yet still has attractive qualities for collectors.

I have the lemon yellow version that was a Lesney Edition for 2011?, which also has a metal base.

This casting is definitely a favorite of mine.

I still need to track down the Sam's version, which to me, was the only other good version.

Definitely! It was great to see this model make a reappearance in the 2014 mainline, albeit in a livery that was more suited to kids.

This version is probably my second favorite version, behind the 2010 Turquoise version. No doubt a great candidate for COTD!

:toy: Nice old Chevy - this black one looks sharp - like the wheels on this one. My favorite is the turquoise version - remember a few of those in that basic color back in the old home town years ago.

Indeed, Juan. A casting easy to fall in love with, so I bought about 6 or 7 when this version came out.
