A review of the regular, Anniversary, and Original versions. I had heard negative feedback on the Originals back when they first appeared but decided to purchase a couple to see for myself. I had the regular and anniversary versions already so I thought that car would be a good sample to use. After having it for months I finally decided to put it together. ![]() Left to Right: Originals, regular, Anniversary What can you say. Outside of colored seats they all look identical. ![]() ![]() ![]() Only difference I can make is the red seats in the Originals and Anniversary and the detailing of the engine on the Anniversary. I also found the metallic red of the Anniversary to be kind of nice. The big difference is in cost. The Originals come in a 100% HW type box but the car cost me about 2 1/2 tines more than the regular Circle K car. I got my anniversary cars at about $12 each at the time though I see prices have risen per ebay. I don't really get Kyoshos business plan with the Originals but I would pass on them unless you really want the casting. The difference does not justify the cost. |

Thanks for the comparison. I would agree with all of your points. There really doesn't seem to be a justification for the higher price. But that being said, given the secondary prices of some of the regular Kyosho minicars, depending on the car, buying a Kyosho Originals new may be a wash compared to getting a regular minicar second hand. I suspect that may be part of their justification, but most of the castings are new enough that there aren't many that can't be had cheaper on Ebay. Now if they were more like that Anniversary car, with better paint, seats and engine detail, it would go a long way in justifying the price. |
