Maisto's simple 1:25 scale diecast model of a 1993 Ford F-150 pickup truck is not one you would automatically and instantly want to tell all your diecast buddies about because of its numerous opening parts and incredible detailing. However, in its simplicity, it does project a good sense of authenticity. Both doors open and that's about it. When I took it apart to do some detailing (silvering the exhaust pipe tips, etc.), I noticed that the chassis was built to handle steerable front wheels, yet all wheels are on straight metal axles. Perhaps a deluxe version has this feature. The grille is cut-out, which is like the 1:1 truck. The chassis reveals this truck is a four wheel drive version. Thanks for looking... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I enjoy this casting, and have a few different colors. What you have here is a custom, with the rear axles from a 1995 Ford Explorer model. Maisto had a '95 Eddie Bauer 4-door with those wheels, and Motor Max had a 2-door Sport model with those wheels. Both the Maisto and Motor Max Explorers have steerable front wheels, so that's why I say these must be rear axles from two models. The original versions of this truck all had steerable front wheels, with smaller tires which were made of hard plastic, and had silver-gray plastic wheels popped into the tire molds. The Explorer wheels and tires definitely give it a more aggressive, 4x4 look than the original stock offering. |
