*Posted for Jedimario.*![]() Today's Car of the Day is Johnny Lightning's Asklon M12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicle. ![]()
![]() For more info on today's car, click here. ![]() I know today's car may not make sense to those that don't play many video games, but we have had far more ridiculous vehicles featured for CotD and I think the Warthog deserves its day! Halo is a massively popular first-person shooter video game series and this vehicle has played a significant role in most, if not all, of its titles. The M12 has been fully functional since its introduction in the first Halo game, where players had the ability to drive, ride shotgun, or man the turret mounted on the back. 3 players could even occupy the vehicle simultaneously, quite a feat back in the very early aughts when the game was released. ![]() I was not even aware that this casting existed until I saw it at Nick's table at CARnival. It's a pretty good replica and I have enjoyed many hours messing around with these in the first Halo game, so I had to have it. This particular example features a Gauss cannon mounted on the back rather than the traditional machine gun they are normally equipped with. It's quite detailed and easily rotates, completing the model nicely.

I may be showing my ignorance here (I'm not into video games since I gave my Atari set to my daughter!) but is this a fantasy car featured in a video game? I know there are "buggies" like this in military service all around the world, but is this based on one of the 1:1 vehicles or something where a game designer went his own way? Whatever the case, it sure looks believable! |

Very interesting...I don't think I have ever seen this casting from JL until now. It is a neat piece and certainly would fit into a collection of military models. And this is one of the neat things about COTD - so many models we get to see that many of us have not had a chance to see or know about.

Yes, it is from the Halo series of games that have been on the X Box consoles in the past decade or so. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/M12_Light_Reconnaissance_Vehicle People have built some too. http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/02/real-life-halo-warthog-goes-for-a-test-drive/ Edited by Hobie-wan, Apr 11 2015, 03:29 PM.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!

I like castings and plastic kits with interesting backgrounds.
