Chevrolet's 1952 3100 pickup from Hot Wheels is our truck for today.

General Motors' first major redesign post-World War II, the Advance-Design series was billed as a bigger, stronger, and sleeker design in comparison to the earlier GM AK series. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the aging Advance-Design model.

1952 - Outer door handles are now push button type as opposed to the previous turn down style. Speedometer now reads to 90 mph and dashboard trim is painted instead of chrome. Mid-year, Chevrolet stops using the 3100-6400 designation on the hood and changes to maroon window and wiper knobs. New serial number codes: KP ½ ton, KR ¾ ton, & KS 1 ton.

HWs has issued this model several times before in premium lines plus a few special series such as a Father's Day release a few years back. This model which was issued in the Spring of 2015 is the first time in the basic $1 line. If features a nice custom pinstripe and chrome colored door handles plus my favorite modern 5 spoke wheels.

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
GREAT custom fodder. Even just a color change makes a great custom. Perfect subject for someone who has never tried a casual custom.

Overall OK, but that front end is screaming for chrome or some other color (white would be a stock choice).

My favorite 3100 is one that's roughly 1:32 by Maisto.

I think this will find it's way into my collection, even though it's not perfect.

My grandfather actually had a 1/1 of these when he was my age.

I'll grab one when available.
I liked the La Troca just fine, and there are plenty of 1950's Chevy Pickups in small scale already, that this doesn't really inspire me, even though it looks pretty nice other than that front end.

I'll be getting several of these as they bring out different colors. I like it.

An acceptable casting from HW's of the 3100 Chevy Pickup - I prefer the casting from ERTL and Racing Champions myself.
