Decided to hit my fav thrift store early this week, and wow, what a find! Someone's wife probably dumped his VW bus collection at the store  , 3/4 of it JL, some matchbox. I know I missed many of these during JL's heyday, I had limited funds, and not all series were showing up then, either. the Pez versions I'm thrilled to get, I love the emergency vehicle themes. :D Overall a good night for JL diecast.

I like the monoploy and classic gold, and lightning speed vans. Did they staple through the blisters?

Amazing finds though

Yes, they did staple them on the cardboard, not the plastic itself. So it's not virgin cardboard anymore... :P I'll be careful taking the staples out, though.

As I recall the PEZ were mailaways, not regular retail. Excellent finds. Now to find the "Love Bus"es.

I can't remember for sure, but I don't think I ever found the turquoise "Classic Gold" version, so that one would give me butterflies in my stomach to find it cheap at a thrift store.

Those are some good finds.
This one was a Mervyns exclusive.

I think Mervyns is all closed down now. But, at the time, I had to drive most of the way to Chicago (6 hrs) to find a Mervyns.
I think they wanted $9.00 for it new.

I never did get the PEZ issues, I remember when they were relatively new, alot of sellers were offering the set online, if I remember correctly they were getting $25 for the set back then, plus Shipp.

You have some wonderful thrift stores out your way! I haven't been to one in my area in ages, mostly because all I'd even seen at them were a box of very worn out or even broken no-name brand models.

I wouldn't have paid 25 plus for the set, not surehow many that would be? I found another Pez JL on Friday, the sheriff's version. So I have 3 now.

most of the old-style thrift stores around here are barren of diecast, like you say, and one reason I suspect is that some of the workers scarf up any good stuff like that before it even hits the floor. These particular good thrifts seem to be run by, and staffed by, nothing but Hispanic women , and a few men, for the most part. Run totally different, many products are bagged and tagged in lots and hung up. Don't see that at Salvation Army or Goodwill stores, everything is loose there. I've found another one like this, not as much diecast, but occasionally lately I've found some good stuff there, too. But this one place will keep me busy all by itself! :D

Went back the next day, and found some different buses than the first batch. Took home 2 more, both keepers for me. :)
