They have resurrected this series if you didnt know. Next Race is July 5 in Brainerd International Raceway. Three seperate series; Fox Sports 2, is carrying the broad casts of all 3 series. Trans AM Edited by Milton Fox Racing, Jun 14 2015, 02:25 AM.

Why is this not more popular? Apologies to Nascar fans, but I don't want to see Fusions and Camrys I want to see Mustangs and Corvettes and Vipers. While I much prefer road racing, I'm not opposed to ovals, I get that the nature of the beast when it comes to building spectator friendly racing venues, but at least give us a race car that looks interesting. |

It's been back for a few years now, but it seems that the Pirelli World Challenge has maybe stolen it's thunder. PWC might better capture the spirit of early Trans-Am, even if the cars in Trans-Am's golden era weren't as production based as everyone liked to imagine. @TR250 - I believe silhouettes of Mustangs and Camaros are both ran in at least one category of NASCAR. Personally though, since NASCAR has always been ran by big grocery getters (in the same way WRC and European Touring Car racing are dominated by little grocery getters) I think a Fusion or Camry or Impala is a more suitable silhouette to dress your stock car as than a sports coupe. I'm aware 'back in the day' they didn't use 4 door body work until big coupes started to disappear, but a 2 door grocery getter is still a grocery getter. |

Back to the Beginnings Tour: Reviving, and Racing, the IRS 1965 Shelby G.T. 350 What's this, a '65 Mustang with IRS? ![]() Indeed it is. Apparently the Shelby crew designed an independent rear end prior to getting a viable setup for the live axle. The article has more details. Also: Mustang in the SCCA Trans-Am Series 1966-1972 ![]() ![]() I'll leave this one too for good measure: http://terlinguaracingteam.com/terlingua-racing-team-history/ Edited by funeralxempire, May 1 2017, 03:04 PM.
