Today's car of the day is Majorette's 1971 BMW 3.0CSi

Wikipedia

The BMW New Six CS (internal name BMW E9) was a two-door coupé built for BMW by Karmann from 1968 to 1975. It was developed from the New Class-based BMW 2000CS coupé, which was enlarged to hold the BMW M30 straight-6 engine used in the E3 sedan.

The E9 platform, especially the 3.0CSL homologation special, was very successful in racing, especially in European Touring Car Championship and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. This helped to establish BMW's status as a sporty driver's car.

I absolutely love BMW E9's. After the stunningly gorgeous BMW 507, it's my favorite model BMW. Elegant, simple and timeless, just the way a classic BMW should be. It also popularized several styling trends, from the shark nose to the trademark Hoffmeister kink in the C pillar. This vintage Majorette model is a great rendition of the car. I'd love to see Matchbox or someone else make a new version to compliment it.

Wikipedia

The 2800CS was replaced by the 3.0CS and 3.0CSi in 1971. The engine had been bored out to give a displacement of 2,986 cc (182.2 cu in), and was offered with a 9.0:1 compression ratio, twin carburettors, and 180 horsepower (130 kW) at 6000 revolutions per minute in the 3.0CS or a 9.5:1 compression ratio, Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, and 200 horsepower (150 kW) at 5500 revolutions per minute in the 3.0CSi.

 Gotta love those older Majorette castings - they had such a variety of nice models (still do). Think I had a green version of this one - what a deal - opening doors and a tow hitch and they made trailers of all sorts for it to pull! :toy:

I had the orange MB one as a kid and loved it, and this one is just a bit lovlier. I do believe I'm going to have to keep an eye out for one.

Sweet little diecast. I wouldn't mind finding one of these at the toy show in Macungie, PA next Saturday. I'd have to do something about those wheels, though...

I've amassed a few different colors on this casting....with many being playworn/chipped, bought second-hand from overseas.
