Waldo arrived safely yesterday with a friend.
Posted Image

We let em out to get some air.
Posted Image

Today we got up to go get some fleas, even though I was up until the wee hours of the morning like a silly person. A quick stretch upon arrival.
Posted Image

And a gaze at the flags before heading in.
Posted Image

We were having so much fun with Waldo making friends left and right, we forgot to take pictures until we sat down and put the hood up for a few minutes with a drink to cool down. We were near the rides and Waldo wanted to have a go. Despite having the age and wisdom needed, they still insisted that the height restriction couldn't be waived.
Posted Image

After several hours of walking around, it was time for some lunch. Some lemon grass beef bun and iced tea hit the spot.
Posted Image

We got home and all the friends Waldo made at the flea market had followed us!
Posted Image

The other 2 were let out and we put up our feet to rest from all the walking.

There's a retired F4 Phantom out in a neighborhood next to an American Legion building that I heard about years ago. It is interesting since it isn't next to the usual museum, military administration building, or vehicle maker. I'd always meant to get out to see it, so I headed out with Waldo in tow.

Walking up after parking.
Posted Image

There was a birthday party going on that I tried to not disturb.
Posted Image

"Hey, don't forget to include me!"
Posted Image

Posted Image

"Must be nice to have extra fuel tanks you can put on for long cruises."
Posted Image

(somehow I got the view through the windows to be more in focus than everything else)
Posted Image

"Those are some huge..."
Posted Image

"...engine bays."
Posted Image

"I bet this sucker really, uh, flew."
Posted Image

"Ah yes. Mach 2. Faster than my so named Mach 1 brothers."
(argh typos, an errant apostrophe, and random sentence fragment)
Posted Image

Neat that the jet is here where the public can look at it any time as opposed to it being in a museum with limited access or just sitting in a boneyard.
Posted Image

I've got one more place I want to try and visit then it will be time for Waldo to move on.

Ok, yesterday's Waldo activity didn't quite work out as planned as I unknowingly showed up 5 minutes before the place closed. I was really trying to not be a pest as I wasn't going to be buying anything and there was so much goodness with no place to pose Waldo in the cramped space that I just left him in my pocket. So I'll be posting what I didn't manage to shoot over in the spotted thread momentarily and I just need to pass him on as I've had him long enough already.

Thanks for hosting Waldo and having fun with him. I did enjoy the pics you posted in the other thread. Now...looking forward to Waldo's next set of adventures with the next host. :D

What a cool idea......!

Maybe the T-Mustang will make it to St. Louis and he and I can go to the Arch in one of my full scale Pony's.

I pinged Sirentoys this weekend, I haven't heard back yet. Maybe I should just send to 250TR if I haven't heard by week's end?

Waldo arrived safely here a few days ago. Along with a few stowaways. Thanks Hobie!
Posted Image

I'm not sure yet what adventures he will have in store while he is here, I have a few ideas, but they will depend on the weather and timing. Anyway, seeing as how Waldo has already been traveling quite a bit, I figured he was due for fresh fluids all around, thankfully he found an old German mechanic who made sure he was good to go.
Posted Image

And when being introduced to a bunch of new faces, it's only natural to find the person you have the most in common with to chat. Waldo wasted no time finding another of his red Hot Wheels redline brothers.
Posted Image

Which of course led to a few more introductions of some friends of the redline Ferrari:

I had hoped to go to Dallas Cars & Coffee yesterday, but my daughter wasn't too happy about leaving, and instead wanted to stay home and watch Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. We had a wedding yesterday evening to go to, so it would have been too much driving anyway, so we let her enjoy the show instead of dragging her around in the car all day. Hopefully next weekend, Waldo will be up for a more exciting adventure. But this weekend, all he managed to do was spend a little time at the park:

After the park, we went to dinner and grocery shopping, I still had him in my pocket when he found a shiny red Mustang at Walmart to make friends with.

That it did. He and Waldo seemed to get along, I couldn't bare the thought of breaking up a friendship.

Yup, Waldo got to go down the slide a few times. My daughter got a big kick out of that. I tried to get a picture, but it went down too fast. Don't worry though, he made a soft landing!

Had a good day at one of my favorite places, and Waldo came along for the ride. We went to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, and started off with a picnic for lunch:

Then wandered around the grounds of the Botanic Garden a little while:

While the main Botanic Garden is a great place to visit, it's the separate Japanese Garden that's my favorite place to visit. It's probably the most tranquil place in the city, and a great way to just spend the day in a relaxing stroll or sitting and enjoying the scenery. The Karesansui is a rock and gravel garden that is an exact copy of the Ryoanji temple garden in Kyoto, Japan.

There is a nice Japanese tea house that extends out over the pond

Some more random shots of the various grounds, ponds, etc.

I couldn't get Waldo in the shot of this one, and I'm not entirely sure what it's ceremonial purpose is for, but it is called a Mikoshi and was a gift from the city of Nagaoka, Japan which is one of our sister cities:
Posted Image

And one last shot before heading home:

I think I'll keep Waldo another week, and take him to the Fort Worth Auto Show next week. It's a relatively mediocre show compared to New York, LA, Chicago, etc. but at least it's automotive related and hopefully there will be at least one or two cars worth the trip.

What a beautiful place! I'm sure it would be one of my favorite places, too, if I lived out that way.
