As far as I can see, the branding Yugo for Zastava produced cars started in the eighties and continued up to 2008 when the brand name was fased out. The fase out happened partially due to Fiat taking the factory over. The Yugo was a Fiat 127-based car but of unique Yugoslavian design. It had different designations (Yugo 45, Yugo 55, Yugo 60, Yugo 65, Yugo Koral) where the number was designating the horse power. It was followed up by the Florida, another Fiat-derived car, this time based on the Tipo. From Yugo there is only one known model in different variations; metal base plate, plastic base plate and also normal passenger car and police car.

One story I read that a woman who was driving a Yugo on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
a sudden gust of wind happened & blew her & the Yugo off the bridge & was killed :o

Sounds like a proper yugo Urban myth! :blink:
