Today's car of the day is Dickie's 2010 Volvo XC60.

Wikipedia

The Volvo XC60 is a compact executive/entry-level luxury crossover produced by Volvo in Ghent, Belgium and is based on Volvo P3 platform. Introduced in 2008, the XC60 has been Volvo's best selling car since 2009. The production vehicle was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Sales began in Europe in the third quarter of 2008. North American models went on sale in early 2009 as a 2010 model. The XC60 shares technology with the Land Rover Freelander of 2007, using a modified version of the Volvo Y20 platform. The Land Rover Discovery 4/LR3 will set the stage for these corporate siblings to enter the market, as much of the engineering and tuning of this CUV was done by Volvo in Sweden, only offroad capabilities were done at Land Rover in England.

Dickie typically produced unlicensed models that were easily identifiable, but not officially licensed. Many of the older Dickie models were copied from other brands' castings, but things started to change and Dickie released a handful of licensed models, displaying the Dickie name and hippopotamus logo on the base, along with the vehicle name. But just as Dickie was finding their footing with licensed models, the Simba-Dickie group acquired Majorette, and new Dickie models went the way of the dodo. Dickie remains the only manufacturer to replicate the XC60 in small scale, although the casting was used briefly in the Majorette line.

Wikipedia

The XC60 includes traditional Volvo safety features including a whiplash protection system, side impact protection system, roll stability control, dynamic stability and traction control, inflatable curtain airbags, hill descent control (AWD only), collision warning with brake support, active bi-xenon lights (optional on some models), and patented front, side, and rear structures. The XC60 also introduced a new technology feature that Volvo has named City safety. The system is described as a driver support system with the goal of preventing or mitigating vehicle-on-vehicle collisions below 30 km/h (19 mph); it does so through the use of a closing velocity sensor that helps determine whether a collision is likely. Depending on the speed, if a collision is likely, the Volvo's computer system will either prepare the car to brake or automatically brake the vehicle to avoid or mitigate a rear-end collision.

Now I know I'm getting older with how fast time is flying. I feel like the XC60 just came out, hard to believe it was introduced in 2008.

Just wait...it gets worse. :D

Looks somewhere between Majorette and Welly...not a bad thing, just low end for expectations.

:toy: When I first looked I thought it was a Majorette as I have a number of the XC60 emergency vehicles so appreciate the background info and tie in between Dickie and Majorette.

I feel your pain. I have a granddaughter who got her driver's license earlier this year!

On the subject of this car, if you get one of these "Dickie" Volvos, be sure to keep it indoors - You could get arrested for playing with... oh, never mind!

250TR, it's not your aging. Since the Volvo looks just like so many other SUV/ Jelly Bean/ Baked potato cars, who can tell what year you/re lookin' at??? :P :P
