Agreed ![]() But even more than plugging, we need to do what we can to get more folks from the board to meet up. So many people we have yet to meet...and you know they're going to have a blast. So start saving and planning while we have time. It doesn't take a load of cash to have fun. The people are the best part

For anyone on the fence, consider this extra incentive to come out in 2016: A lot of folks here have heard me talk about the Hershey Matchbox show. It's held at the AACA Museum every September. Well, the show's been so successful that Ron's decided to do a general diecast show at the museum as well. On Sunday April 24th. Which just happens to be CARnival weekend. Two big shows in one weekend. There's no excuse whatsoever to miss them! |

I will certainly make an effort to attend this year...and maybe I'll be a bit more prepared this time. Edit: Just remembered, I had a discussion with Swifty @ the last event about possibly setting up a large, tabletop road course. If there's enough interest(and enough space), I'd be willing to bring the track components, set it up, and run the brackets. Edited by GspeedR, Dec 9 2015, 07:01 PM.

There's a good chance the Midwest will make a showing there. A small showing, but a presence nonetheless. |

I still love this idea. How many tables will this take up, total? |

How would a tabletop road course work?? |

I think the long hotel tables are 8' long...I would use two of them(end to end...16' total) for the road course. The tables could be set against a wall if space is @ a premium, but more people can spectate track-side if the tables are out in the open. As for 'jedimario's' question: I will provide some visuals in due time, but it's basically a 2-lane "turn-around" course that incorporates regular HW orange track, a vintage 2-lane banked curve, and Sizzler's Fat Track for the final stretch. The track also uses various height transitions and the curve is articulated. Total length will be ~32ft. It's designed to allow the cars to execute the course while maintaining momentum and high finishing speeds. Each heat would consist of 2 switched-lane runs...ties are run until one car wins consecutively(yes, some heats will require multiple runs...especially as the brackets narrow). The final stretch(~12') of Fat Track is really the "X-factor". There are many cars that are fast in a single lane but are unstable on Fat Track. Speed, consistency, and a little bit of luck are the typical keys to victory. |

Here's a crude example of a shorter version of the proposed tabletop track. The track I intend to build will be ~4' longer with a lengthened 2-lane and a slightly higher starting drop.![]() GspeedR
