Today's car of the day is Hot Wheels' 2015 BMW M4

Wikipedia

The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, the BMW M GmbH, the M4 is one of the Fastest M cars ever produced by BMW achieving 0-100km (0-62m) in just 4 seconds. Part of the renumbering that BMW splits the 3 Series coupe and convertible models to the 4 Series (to further differentiate with the 3 Series sedans), the M4 replaces the M3 Coupe and Convertible models, also gran coupe.Upgrades over the standard 4-Series include a very powerful and responsive Twin Turbo charged engine with improved handling, suspension, and braking systems, aerodynamic body enhancements, and interior/exterior accents with the tri-colour "M" (Motorsport) badging, and the overall weight of the car is significantly reduced compared to the standard 4 series and its predecessor with its all new stiffer chassis and the extensive use of Carbon Fiber especially the roof of the car.

I really like this casting and think Hot Wheels did a great job. Generally, I really like bright blue cars and I'm also not a big fan of this factory color from BMW for this car. So given that the first release was in a bright blue that I love, I'm quite surprised at how much this color outshines the blue on the diecast. Maybe it's just because it's so close to the true factory color, maybe it's because it highlights the car better, but this version really does make the car stand out as one of the better Hot Wheels for the year.

Wikipedia

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic will be used extensively throughout the car, including drive shaft, roof, roof bow, trunk, and front strut brace. For the first time in the M vehicle, an electric power steering unit will be used. The steering system will be specifically tuned for the M3 and M4. The 18 inches (460 mm) and 19 inches (480 mm) wheel options will be available with lightweight forged alloys being standard. The M compound brakes will be standard (in blue), while carbon ceramic brakes (in gold) will be available as an option.

The M4 will feature Active Sound ,A live amplification of the engine's natural sound will be inducted into the passenger cabin via the speakers, BMW says this technology is been used because of the well insulated cabin to avoid road / wind noise but still provide the driver the sporty sound of the M powered Engine . There will not be any artificial sound or any pre-recorded track. Overall, 70 percent of the components on the M4 will be standalone compared to the F32 4 Series.

:toy: Wow...the front and rear light treatment is great! The color...no. I would love to see the bright blue version (I, too like blue). But overall a nice looking Bimmer from Hot Wheels.

I found the bright blue version about a month ago. Definitely one of the better HWs!

Equally-sized and tasteful wheels, check! Full detailing, check! All of this for a dollar, check! I believe this may be my choice for HW of the year.

I agree that this color makes the casting pop more than the blue, and I believe that is because the enamel blue makes the paint look thicker than this metallic color, and so the thicker looking paint doesn't highlight the casting lines quite as well. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it!

New casting? Quick! Take it apart!
I'll gladly get one of these for my collection. Good looks, good paint, great detail for a dollar car. Thanks Mattel!!!

Here is a comparison of the blue with the gold. Dean, I think you are on to something about the paint thickness. I think too, the metal flake in the gold is done better than usual. HW's has a tendency for the metal flake to be too large and distracting, and on this one the metal flake is very fine. Compared to the enamel blue, the metallic color throws the light around a little more to highlight the curves. In real life, I'll take the blue all day long, but for the Hot Wheels the gold takes it.

I have picked up both castings as well - very nice execution by Hot Wheels. The front and rear tampo execution is exceptionally well done. I agree with cody6268 that this gold version of the casting deserves a nod for casting of the year!

Here is the near factory color that 250TR referenced. I spotted it on the downtown square a few months back.
