Today's car of the day is from Ethanator's collection, and is Siku's 1982 Chevrolet Camaro.

Wikipedia

The Chevrolet Camaro is an automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car and some versions also as a muscle car. Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009. The third-generation Camaro was produced from 1982 to 1992. These were the first Camaros to offer modern fuel injection, Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmissions, five speed manual transmissions, 15 or 16 inch wheels, a standard OHV 4-cylinder engine, and hatchback bodies. The cars were nearly 500 pounds (227 kg) lighter than the second generation model.

An interesting model, one I hadn't seen before. Siku is known for well done models... (at least it isn't half-baked, :D )

Neat. Nice crisp lines.
I like how they incorporated the taillights as an extension of the red interior.
Are the headlights seperate? From the photos they almost look like it.

:toy: Another neat model from Siku - I had the white version of this one at one time. Always a bit surprised since Siku did a Camaro that they never offered a Mustang. :)

Dean-o-mite The only major problem with the older Siku (Germany) models is the highly visible casting/mold lines. I recently shipped an older Siku Porsche 914 to Z28HO that had similar visible casting/mold lines. Sam is going to restore that model by stripping, filing & sanding down the casting/mold lines, repairing the broken swivel arms on one of the doors, priming and painting. It will be very interesting to see how his restoration comes out.

It looks like it might just be bare metal from the base to me. Looking at some black ones where there's more contrast online looks that way. But let's see what the official word says. :)

Great casting until the rear quarter panels, then it kind of goes Pontiac in my opinion.

Here are the three I own. I added red marker to the corners of the tail lights on the silver and white ones.

I really wish I could like this model more. Style-wise it's among my favorite Camaros, but the mold lines flat ruin it for me. As I recall, Siku i supposed to have a real reputation for decent models, but they sure dropped the ball on this one when it came to preparing the body!
