This was Ford's Year and Joey's year. Shame on Nascar this maybe my last year watching any races or parts of races. I cannot see how Joey could have been better and not be in the Playoffs. Kenseth hope you never ever win another championship. Taking it out on Joey because of what happened in the Past at Kansas's racing incident and finally Brad made for one of the most immature moves I have ever witness in Nascar. I think Nascar is a total Joke and has nothing to do with talent. Jeff Gordon can win with one win what a freaking joke. I will agree with Sean if I had to pick one I would want Truex to win even though he has only one win just because he's the most decent one there.

Daniel, would IMSA/Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge be of any interest? There's a few touring car classes and a class for GT/sports cars; the races are held on a number of important American road courses. Most brands marketed in North America are represented, and several with multiple models spread out across the classes. Ford campaigns Fiestas, Focii (Focuses?) and Mustangs, the new GT should debut next season. In some ways it's a bit like the golden era of Trans-Am with modified production cars(as opposed to modern Trans-Am which uses tube-frame silhouette cars).

Here's the 2015 race at Watkins Glen if you've never seen it before.

Looks much more interesting and fun than NASCAR.

Never understood the fascination of NASCAR. I'm not much of a racing fan to begin with, but NASCAR always struck me as boring. Most people seem to watch just for the accidents. Need to throw in a few more twists and turns to make it fun and exciting and challenging.... If I am going to watch some cars and drivers duke it out, touring racing and sports car racing are more like it. Just my opinion...

NASCAR has far more interaction between cars at generally much higher speeds than sports car racing. And it definitely takes skill.

Maybe so.... like I said, just my opinion... but going around in a big circle (oval), seems boring - even with the "interaction". :bored:

And I don't get the the big deal people have with high speed. Just because it's faster, bigger, louder, doesn't make it better.

But variety is the spice of life. So I'm glad we have choices... so when I do watch a race, it won't be NASCAR. :P

I don't follow NASCAR and much prefer sports car racing, but it's still got its exciting moments and attending races in person is a blast.

"Racing" is all about getting from point A, START to point B, FINISH in the fastest time. That certainly will involve speed and the skill of handling speed and strategy of pitting. Whether it is oval, straight-line, or the twisties. I am just not liking this "play-off" format that NASCAR has implemented.

Indeed. Nothing wrong with people liking Nascar, but it is bafflign that rallying isn't bigger here.

As much as it still doesn't interest me much to watch stock car racing, getting stuck in some extended high speed pack racing in rFactor has hugely increased my appreciation for the amount of skill and focus required for those sorts of close-quarter battles... and then I realize I at most deal with it for 15-20 seconds and they deal with it for lap after lap. It must take adamantine gonads the size of softballs to do for real.

I'm with you Hobie, I'm surprised rallying isn't as big in North America as it is in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. That said, I believe it's bigger than people realize - just mostly restricted to grassroots and semi-pro level stuff. Rally America doesn't have many pro teams, and the pro teams aren't nearly on par with WRC teams, but it does have good levels of participation from semi-pro and amateur teams. Rally America might still be the number two cause of Eagle Talon deaths, after the drag strip.

Along with that, they're actually moving 200mph mere feet from a big wall. The superspeedways are intimidating to drive fast, even by yourself.

Nascar I use to like but I know it can be boring. In recent years the Road Courses have picked up on popularity. However the way Nascar is determining champions now has ruined the sport. I don't know what I have said here recently and jumped the gun before reading the recent member's comments but a Champion winning a Championship that has missed eleven races just isn't fair. Joey Lagono won more races than anyone this year and wasn't even a factor in the final four because he was eliminated . Last year by the old point system he would have finished second overall. In 2013 Jimmy Johnson would have been the champion. Can you imagine him tying Earnhardt? No way says Nascar. Get the point? Now who do you think would had won in 2014? Can you guess? Jeff Gordon believe it or not. Not Harvick but Jeff. Harvick would had finished 5th in the points. This year he would have won the Championship. Yes won but he won last year and would have finished 5th in last year in the classic point system. The point system that use to be in place was your average done by finishes. So though it maybe exciting with this Horse and Pony Show Playoffs but it isn't fair to the drivers and sponsors or a former fan call me. Now I'm no rocket scientist but the chase now is so complicated that I don't understand it. Here's a link if you want to learn more.

Here's the link on maybe other Champions.

Sorry was edited for wrong information on Joey being the 2013 Champion.

One thing I did forget if my numbers add right are as following:
1. 10 points for leading a lap.
2. 15 Points extra for winning.
3. Points for leading the most laps 15?

Oh and one more sufficient fact. Kyle Busch the Champion would have finished 15th this year by the classic points system. Wow 15th.

I really do not follow NASCAR anymore but happened to see an article on their new "charter system" that excluded the Wood Bros Racing Team because they do not run every race due to financial constraints. How sad that one of the most storied teams in NASCAR has been given the shaft. You don't find nicer men than the Wood Brothers and think of the history of this team over the years - but that really doesn't matter to the suits in corporate headquarters. Now if only Subaru would get back into WRC Rally Cars! :D

Fans probably didn't have many NASCAR issues back in the old days.

Daytona racing on the beach back then, now it's all about the boardroom and bazillions of dollars.
I guess this shot is from the 1950s.

I should have been leaving at 1030 for my fall trip to North Carolina. Triple AAA promised my wife a tech in a hour. Our time was changed all day. Wife wouldn't let an outside contractor to repair the problem (she pays for the membership) Now at 15:52 hours we have the car ready. A freaking battery. The car was parked behind my single car garage meaning I couldn't get mine out to give it a jump. Furthermore I wanted the alternator tested to ensure myself I wouldn't be stuck out in the middle of somewhere. So a whole day wasted that I could have had in the mountains. Oh I forgot to mention the only game I have seen of the Atlanta Falcons this year and they lost in their home field to a 2-4 record team. Weeks ago Georgia lost to Vanderbilt on homecoming weekend. :(  :flame:

I have lots of Rants.

1. I hate going into bathrooms that have no paper towel dispensers, but have hand dryers instead. One thing I seemed to notice that I hate is that bathrooms that have hand air dryers instead of paper towel dispensers will always have a trash can. Whats the point of having a trashcan in the bathroom when there is no paper towels to put in it! Give us the choice or using towels and the hand air dryer not one or the other.

2. I hate some electronic fonts in where the Uppercase I looks like a lowercase L. I hate this especially when they use these fonts in an online access code or Captca. When I handwrite I go out of my way to make make a L look like an L and na I to look like an I, both uppercase and lower case.

Some Automotive Rants that get under my skin.

1. I hate seeing all of these stupid online list such as "The top 2016 15 cars for snow driving", that list all AWD cars. Look unless you can attach a snow plow, and salt spreader to your vehicle then it is not good for driving in the snow. Should all be 4x4 trucks on the list, and maybe one or two body on frame SUV's

2. I hate seeing people that have a brand new top on the line pickup truck with a cheap 200 dollar tool box on it. Look do yourself a favor and spend like 800 or 900 dollars for a good tool box such as a Weatherguard one. If you can afford a 50,000 dollar truck you should be able to afford a 900 dollar tool box. Trust me it will make your truck look a whole lot nicer, and your stuff is safe too.

3. I hate seeing all of these young guys customizing their pickup trucks, particularly the larger diesel trucks. I am more than ok if you want to put a tool box on it,a cap, or OEM parts/Rims. Can't you leave it stock looking though? It looks like crap with the ugly rims, lift kits, bumpers, lights and plastidip. Theres a reason why these trucks look like the way they do when they come from the factory. If I would to buy a used truck it would definitely not be one that has been messed with but instead one that is factory stock.
