Friends don't let friends leave things stock. You're welcome to leave your vehicle as boring looking as the day the factory churned it out, but some folks prefer to personalize their vehicle - and all the power to them (even if they do so with a sense of aesthetics that I find highly questionable). |

Custom Cars I don't mind, just does not look right on pickup trucks. There is no such thing as a boring stock American Pickup Truck. Like I said slight modifications are fine, as long as it keeps that stock look. One thing I also forgot to mention is I hate the people that put custom stacks on there diesel trucks threw the bed. Looks like crap, and it ruins the bed. You have have to be careful modding trucks too because when you put lift kits, and large rims/tires it kills transmissions. |

It looks just as right (or wrong) on pickup trucks as it does on anything else. Considering that they're mass produced and the majority will end up at the crushers eventually, why fret over someone's choice to make their vehicle more appealing to their tastes? Maybe they don't like the stock look, or feel it can be improved upon (and there's no such thing as a mass-produced item that can't be improved upon). Since it's their property only their preferences are relevant. Bro trucks aren't my cup of tea, but they demonstrate a level of attachment and enthusiasm the owner has towards their vehicle that 'couldn't be bothered to personalize it' vehicles often lack. (Not to suggest that everyone who leaves their vehicle bone stock doesn't love their vehicle, only that someone who's bothered to customize their vehicle is pretty much guaranteed to feel a high degree of emotional investment in their vehicle). Edit: Also, Daniel, clean and mean.

Not arguing with you or invalidating your rants and opinions. Just providing some counterpoints. I'm right there with you on the font thing. Unless it is something decorative, L l 1 O 0 and such should be crystal clear. ![]()
People might spit out gum, clean out their pockets, or drop a sticky ice cream napkin in the trash and then wash their hands. I know I'd rather the gum goes in the trash then set as a trap for the bottom of my shoe somewhere. There's toilet paper which might still be used as a makeshift paper towel and we don't want someone clogging the toilet with a pile of that.
In this case, both you and the articles have both fallen into the trap. Propelling with all 4 wheels does not automatically make any vehicle better in snow. Driving all 4 can help if 1 wheel loses grip as you'd have 3 providing push instead of just 1 at that point, but it could also mean that too much of a jab on the throttle makes all 4 start slipping instead of just 2. AWD and 4x4 truck drivers that think those systems make them automatically invincible will soon learn to love ditches, curbs, and parked cars. Winter tires, tire chains, and careful driving do far more to help than the number of wheels being motivated. Heck, lots of econoboxes on skinny pizza cutter wheels will do better than other vehicles in winter conditions. http://jalopnik.com/heres-why-you-need-winter-tires-as-shown-with-a-tricyc-1754259579 http://jalopnik.com/heres-irrefutable-proof-that-all-wheel-drive-is-worthle-1671708207 http://jalopnik.com/lets-settle-the-winter-tires-vs-all-wheel-drive-debat-1462180324 http://jalopnik.com/ten-absurd-winter-driving-myths-that-need-to-die-1678498167
While I agree that some people go nuts with things, taking something and making it yours is cool. You wouldn't want to live in a house or apartment that looks just like your neighbor and everyone else down the street would you? Wear the same clothes to work or school as everyone else? Do you ask for no onions on your burger when you eat out or add some pepper to your green beans? It should be good enough to eat the standard configuration without tweaking, right? ![]() As long as someone isn't doing something dangerous like lifting where their headlights blind me and a sudden stop means their bumper is aiming for the roof of my car or they're not rolling coal to be a douchebag, then I'll just shake my head if I think someone has made their vehicle ugly, but whatever floats their boat. |

Speaking of paper towels/ hand dryers, you know what I hate? That stupid Dyson Blade thing. All it does is blow the water from the last persons hands back onto your hands. Those Xcelerator super hurricane strength hand driers though. Those rock. One second under those and your hands are dry. As for cars, I could care less what someone does with their car unless it's a legitimate safety hazard. Stancing, donks, lifted trucks, all can be legitimate safety concerns and cause the vehicle to drive significantly worse than stock. But in moderation and done properly they can be fine. Diesels that are tuned, If done right can make a lightning quick truck that DOES NOT roll coal. My friends truck would embarrass my Porsche in a drag race and there isn't a speck of smoke visible. But the second I see those smoke stacks, I cringe. |

I don't like a beautiful Dodger Charger or Chrysler 300 with 22 inch or 24 inch rims on them. |

I can relate to this topic... As a former lowrider, I can appreciate people who want to customise and personalise their rides. When the "big rim" fad started taking off in the late '90s, I wondered how long that would last. I'll flip through a copy of Donk or Rides and shake my head at what lengths people will go to to "personalise" their "whips"...if I see another mid '70s GM full size with 30" rims and an overboosted big-block Chevy motor, I just may scream. Those rims only look good on full size trucks and SUVs IMHO. *rant off* |

Very true, my dad has a 1986 olds cutlass supreme brougham that he bought when it was a year old. He loves the car! It is still 100% stock with the 305, carb, white wall tires, wire wheels, and cassette player. The one in the picture is identical, same colour and everything.

I was just about to post that myself. I absolutely love the paint job, and custom grille on this '75 caprice, but man those rims are killing me! ![]() Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a 454 or something under the hood, but I also wouldn't mind seeing the original 350 or 400 tuned up with the air pump removed, and some nice headers added. |

That Cutty is amazing. There are still a ton of these around where I live and a lot of them have the "donk" treatment...so it is a rare treat to see one stock! Thanks for sharing!

No prob! the car gets a lot of stares, i think the one big thing is the green paint, you never see it! This is the only picture i could find on the internet in that green. Right before my dad bought the cutty, he test drove a grand national. The reason why he didn't buy it, is because he told me he stepped it down, and got thrown lane to lane and was pinned to the seat. told the sales man, nope, i want a car not an airplane!

Those large wheels are hideous and I think they are a little too much. What really kills me especially low riders is when they put those 13 inch wheels on a full size car and then use it as a daily driver. They must like buying new tires every two weeks....lol |

I'm kinda on the fence about those cars. Some of them at least had a lot of time and effort put into them and are well done. Unlike some other types of custom cars... https://youtu.be/Ec4tI5-DRSo |

I had 13x7 rims on my low (an '83 El Camino) and I wanted to go old-school and use the Premium Sportway bias-ply tires. My one buddy who owned a rim, tire and stereo shop (who also hooked up my hydraulics) recommended a 155/80/13 radial. They lasted the three years I owned it, put about 9000 miles on them with minimal wear. It helped that I rotated the tires every three months. Plus I didn't do any crazy stunts with it either. Nowadays I would go with an airbag suspension. The ride is a LOT smoother. |

I actually like lowriders with small rims/tires. ![]() ![]() however, I can't stand it when the small tires are blackwalls, but for me that goes for MANY old cars. The following is my opinion on tires ![]() should have raised with letters, or redlines ![]() should have white walls ![]() should have whitewalls as well However, people are allowed to do what they want with their own vehicles ![]() |
