I was leaning toward the 1955 Jaguar but saw the Covair and it was over. My ex-wife had a corvair we use to take to the Canadian nightclubs all the time. It was so unique never forget the night we almost froze to death until we found this little vent in the back where it was utilized and saved our freezing butts.

I really liked that Corvair, too...but I am partial to most any car with over the top fins. Loved that 59 "Barn Find" Impala, so it got my vote. Of course, I'm a 57 Chevy guy through and through, but I'm not in love with the JL versions...maybe its the scale I don't like.

:toy: I liked the Corvair's (even learned how to drive with one) but went with the classic, vintage '59 Chevy from Matchbox!

This is HARD! How do I choose just one from a field filled with CARS I OWN??? Well, I voted, but nobody's ever going to find out which of my "kids" got my vote.

PJ: You learned to drive in one great but misunderstood car and went on to be a fan of another one - Gotta love it!

Daniel: If you'd had a Corvair with the optional gas-fired furnace in the trunk, you'd would have never worried about the cold, no matter how far north in Canada you'd ventured. Those gas heaters were the greatest. No exaggeration, you'd feel the heat within 15 seconds of hitting the switch, and the interior of the car would have been toasty warm inside about 2 minutes. Try THAT with ANY modern car, I dare you! But that little "flap" is a great thing on cold days.had that on the 1965-9 "Late Models", and smaller ones down along the sills in the "Early Models".

Eric, Tom, and Snowman, thanks for the votes. I'm really curious to see how this one comes out. I'm glad nobody is afraid to come right out and admit they like cars other than my Corvairs. Hey, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Corvair guy, no doubt about it, but I love older cars in general. I buy my little cars because I like them, so it stands to reason that in any given week of "Car Of The Day", I might well have voted for any of these cars. They're all in my collection, right? :woot:

:woot: Learned to drive in a '61 Corvair and a '55 Chevy 210 Station Wagon. First car was a '51 Studebaker Land Cruiser! So tend to have this thing with funky/quirky cars. :D

I keep checking on this thread every day to see how my "kids" are fairing. So far, the lack of votes for the Jaguar kind of surprises me, but the lack of votes for the Renault, well, doesn't surprise me nearly as much! And I'm thrilled that one of the Corvairs is leading at the moment.

I voted for the Racing Champions Corvair. It's the perfect combination of subject matter and quality. I love D Type Jaguars, but I find the Tootsietoy too small and crude. I have a few examples of cars that are too small and a few that are too crude, but the combination was enough to knock it lower on my list despite liking the real car so much. The Matchbox Renault was my second choice. I don't have that one and would like to add it at some point. I think it is a really interesting and unique car and Matchbox did a good job with it. But I love Corvair's, maybe not as much as Jim, but they are among my top 10 favorite American cars, and they nailed it with the right proportions and details. Thanks for sharing your picks for the week. I can relate to the anticipation of seeing how the voting turns out, I remember the first week I submitted cars for COTD I was checking it constantly to see how they were doing. All are worthy contenders and it was a fun and diverse week!
