And it doesn't have flower wheels! I would like to see this car fitted with the more conservative looking disk hubs.

Here's some info on Sambron. Problem is, doing a search, and coming up with used listings for early 1990s Sambrons doesn't show dimensions. Going even earlier into the 1970s doesn't bring up anything from this era. All of those such as what the Matchbox was modelled after must have been scrapped.

My favorite food group!

Would love to find that one, but didn't it come in a playset?

Many thanx for the effort, cody6268.

From the looks of the real one, the MB model appears to be undersize, maybe 1/72 at the biggest. :(

It's ROLA-MATICS time!

I've never been sure of the scale of the Stoat, but the soldier peeking up from the top hatch looks pretty close to 1/64. Bert's been trying to ask him for a tour of the car, but the soldier seems to be too preoccupied with his view through his binoculars.

"He's on duty, I guess."

Yeah. Probably shouldn't distract him.

Unfortunately, no. :(

We do have a few other Looney Toons character cars, which will appear as we get to them.

Another of MB's better generics...

Posted Image

The "City Police Car" appears to be a crossover vehicle. As such, it seems quite believable to us. Not a bad depiction.

Thankfully, it escaped flower wheels. These Y-spoke wheels are nice, and these particular examples have unusually high profile tires, as opposed to the low profile tires seen more frequently on BMWs, Benzs, and some others that run on Y-spokes.

"But it's got that blue glass thing going on..."

Yeah, probably because the windows are one piece with the light bar. You know how generics are all about cutting production costs, Officer.

"But, if the clear parts were uncolored, you could'a got a Sharpie and..."

Yeah, I know, colored the light bar myself.

"Is there a Sharpie that takes color out of stuff?"

If there is, I bet it's expensive.

I have had that same police car for a while and must admit, at the time, Matchbox was in a "what in the" fantasy generic stage, but this is a generic that looks very realistic. I like it. Too bad it's no longer in the lineup.

One of our favorite MB castings in Bert's favorite type of livery...

"Go ahead, kid. Show that other view."

Ok, if I can find it...

Voila! You like this one, Officer?

"Hey, if you don't have a Tahoe in your police fleet, there's just something missing."

Uh, yeah. A Tahoe.

"And kid, if yer gonna talk French, learn to use those accent things."

Yet another way to use that '55 Chevy casting...

Posted Image

... w/o hardtop.

Again we see now the car needs that chrome trim. MB left it off entirely to make way for the MB logo.

"I doubt anyone on this site would complain."

I tend to agree, Officer.

"Anyone else, that is."

... doesn't have the hood casting issues our yellow copy does.

"Glad to see somebody was more careful with this blue one."

Yes, we know how you prefer blue, Officer.

"But I like those other wheels more."

These aren't exactly my favorite wheels either.

Better QC and wheels on this one...

... but I think a black interior would have looked better. Generally, black cars look better to me with black interiors.

"Y'know kid, a while ago I met a black car with a tan interior. It didn't seem to mind."

You mean the owner didn't?

"I mean the car didn't."

Uh, how do you know the car didn't mind having a tan interior?

"Told me it didn't."

TOLD you?

"Yeah. Nice fella, too. Works some global 'Law and Government' gig."

Yi! Sounds a bit NWO to me.

Big wheels on this one...

MB says this casting is "1/76", but that seems off to us. Comparing it against other known 1/64 trucks, it appears to be a lot closer to 1/64. Could MB have meant 1/67?

"Why all the confusion, kid?"

Officer, it's not my fault! :beatit:

Hungry? It's time to explore the... BURGER ZONE!

OH yeah! Of the two versions of this '57 Chevy that we have, this one sports the most colorful tampoes. But the less colorful version is better looking, I think.

"I'll decide that, kid. Let's see the other one."

We'll get to it eventually, Officer.

"Why not now?"

Because I think the next subject in line may interest you even more, Officer (hint, hint).

"Well, it better be good, that's all I can say."

Sigh.

Another for Bert's use...

Although I have no idea how good the real thing is (was), I like this Impala casting. Even at 1/66.

It would have been better at 1/64 of course, and the front end really needs tamped lights and a grill. Still, MB did a lot right with this one. The red light bar is separate from the glass, leaving the glass with a nice neutral tint. The interior color is just right. The wheels are a good choice; a bit BMW-ish (to my eye) but a much better choice than YKW.

And of course, Bert likes the color.

"It's blue. What's not to like?"

Now, here's another lost opportunity...

Posted Image

... to do tampoes right. We think this '55 Chevy would be so much better without the over-sized "Bel Air", and with the trim done in silver instead of white.

But, MB did a clever thing by making a body casting that can be either a hard-top or a convertible. Good job on that, MB.

"So, so close..."
That's a sweet automobile.
