Great finds for 66¢. Looks like some were "improved" with nicer wheels suitable for model railways.

Hum...Marks right some are wheel swaps , for the better. I have some bought as a kid at a hobby shop for our train set. Pegged in and marketed with the HO train stuff , makes me wonder how many of these survivors are lurking out there on train sets. Based on the average lifespan of a diecast car , I'm guessing they have fared better than their kin

I couldnt pass them by for $.66, even if some have wheel swaps.
Their condition was too nice.

I would suspect most would hold up nicely in the model railroad world since, for the most part, they are not played with but simply part of the display/diorama that has been created. It is neat to see that most of these have had nice wheels swaps.

Awesome scores! I myself have the Mack SuperLiner... It looks like these had Herpa HO/1:87 wheels swapped in.

You guys are missing out if you haven't been to train shows, there are some diecast-only vendors that show up to cater to them, and have many nice new and used diecast in all sizes. Plus you get oddball diecast from overseas sometimes. If you've never been to a model train show, you might be missing out on some great diecast finds of all time. :) Might want to check your local areas and go see one sometime.

YatMing *DID* make variations of models with rubber wheels, but I do not think they ever did it on the trucks. Diecast cars used for HO scale dioramas always have an easy life. They are mostly glued or placed on the diorama and sit there forever, or are rotated out every now and then. A lot of model railroad hobbyists are not diecast collectors and only seen the cars as props, and price them as such. They also look for cheap stuff often when prop hunting, which is why there's usually a fair bit of YatMing that can be found in mint condition at train shows.

Heck, even I had some YatMings on my train layout. One Roadway-branded mismatched truck and trailer YatMing survived when a lot of my diecast got sold in 2003 and 2011 by hiding in the HO train boxes that had been packed away since the early 2000's and forgotten. It too, is in mint condition, aside from the trailer box coming detached from the frame.

I think the remarkable thing isn't the wheels...it is the exhaust pipes / stacks. Playworn examples almost always have broken stacks.
